Considering a C6 with just over 70k miles. The higher miles is a concern. The price is $2k under blue book. Too many miles for only $2k less in price? I will put 5-8k a year on it as weekend car. Thanks.
blue book is not the definitive be all end all pricing guide. it's just one of many sources. they take mileage into account when they give their value estimates. cost underneath that, is already ahead, for what a lot of people would pay.
this is entirely too obscure anyways, if you want valid information about what a car is actually worth, we'd need to see the car, know the year, trim level, options, total condition, maintenance records etc..
I paid $27K last year for my 2005 Z51 5 speed manual. I bought into a 3year warranty included with $27K loan. I put $6K cash down. My payment is near $450 a month. Not bad, for the car of my dreams. Id say for a LS2 C6 you should be around $24-$25K with 70K miles on it, seeing mine had around 27K miles only last year, and this year just hit 30K!!! Good luck you will truly love it, I can tell you that. It blows away my hopped up older Mustang GT in ALL categories!! My dentist traded in a low mile C6 last year for $17K on a trade in, so these STEALERS certainly have room to move down in price. What are they asking if you don't mind me asking??

with the C7 entering its 2nd year of production and the C7Z now available, the floor is falling out of C6 prices. For an LS2 car today with 70k miles, I would be looking at the bottom 20k range or like 21k out the door.

Price is fine at $24k for convertible Z51. Just don't want to wake up in 3 years and be angry I have a car with 100k miles and starting to get needy on repairs and issues.

didn't realize it was a convertible... What do you know about the history of the car? Was it maintained, does it have any service history?
WHAT YEAR? While it does matter that the car was well maintained/records, etc. you get a car hitting 100K, or even at 70K as you drive away with title in hand, and it can have problems. I won't say it's likely, and I will say this is (probably, depending on year, eqpmt., mods if any, etc.) a very solidly built car. But, if you aren't planning on or at least providing for minor and at least a major repair, get a new car with a full, new-car warranty.
You sound like you know the owner---do you (this is like pulling teeth)? Did you actually read all the repairs and maintenance? Do you have the AutoCheck, CarFax and VIS reports? Have you had someone look the car over on a lift who knows Corvettes? Have there been any modifications to the car (aka "mods")? What are they, if any?

If the car is solid, looks nice and looks well taken care of, id say go for it?? Maybe shave a 1K off the price and call it a day?? A three year bumper to bumper warranty was under 20 bucks a month extra for me. That was far worth it all day long. That may seal the deal for you? I just don't know if the the bank will offer the warranty with those miles?? As I said, mine had under 30K. But either way these guy's will tell you LS motors are super tough!!As you probably already know. Look for valve leaks and obvious things!!You can tell fast if the car has been beat or not! MOST older guy's baby there vette, UNLIKE MOST younger Mustang owners. Usually a totally different crowd. Just Saying?
Year?, mods?, options?, color?, where are you located?... all can have a huge impact. In Florida where I live under Blue Book is a good start but there might be a reason... Good Luck, I can tell you I bought mine about a year ago and love it now as much as the day I brought it home!!
i laugh when i hear some of you guys talk about at what mileage these cars have issues.
I look through the original owners service records for my 08 (which i purchased at 93k and now have 96.5k on) and what i see is a steady repair history. a well maintained higher mileage car is a much better and safer bet than a 30k or 40k neglected one. at least in my book..
If car has the service history and was well maintained you should have no more issues than anyone else in a 8, 9, 10yo car will have.

If you only do 5-8k miles per year then it won't have 100k on it in three years. I agree to look for good maintenance history if available.
Everybody always frets over possible repairs. Vettes with ANY amount of miles are subject to unexpected repairs. If you save $5000 by buying one with higher mileage, that just leaves you with $5000 in the bank for future work on it, if needed.
I have 88k miles on my owned since new 2008 c6 z51 m6 coupe and it's been such a wonderful ownership experience I can only suggest you not worry about the mileage.
I believe most valuations of the car include an average of 10 to 12 k miles per year usuage...
I also believe there is a formula for calculating excess or less than average miles per year to come up with what you should pay for the vehicle as a fair market price.
From a reliability standpoint...this has been one of the finest from a reliability standpoint in almost 40 years of buying new cars...
Have fun...deciding which corvette to purchase...
Make sure you get the color, transmission and options you want...(closest that meets your needs)
