peoples choice. there are those that don't mind paying the going price if we feel the product is worth the money. i paid a little more for the k&n when i had my base, and from reading the opinions of cai's here on the forum, i paid too much. then again, if we all wait for prices to drop, it wouldn't be good for the economy.
if you have a tune and less restrictive exhaust then yes the CAI does help otherwise not much punch for the money.when i put my GS on the dyno i got 18 extra HP from stock with CAI,tune and a set of stinger exhaust.

The Vararam works. My LS3 car went 11.9x@120 right off the highway with Vararam and a tune only.
There has been plenty of data showing how much timing the computer pulls when the IAT's get over 86. Propping the shroud and a true CAI like the vararam are proven to be helpful. No way a tune only picks up 4 tenths and 5 mph in trap speed(based off Gm's stock numbers) on an automatic car like mine.
Thanks again!! I am sure I will have other questions as I try to learn more about my car>
Welcome aboard, Flynnab59 Don't know if you have checked into any Corvette clubs or not, but I met some really good folks a few weeks ago from Lex. area on a cruise to Cumberland Falls that one of the other guys put on. Check us out in the regional forum section. Southeast section. Look for Louisville Vette Drivers.

When you're up to speed the vararam works, period. A night on the highway the vararam screams, a big difference between my K&N CAI and the vararam that I felt. I don't know about the LS3, but it's a HUGE improvement over the LS2 airbox. You will notice a difference, if you don't you're only going 25mph.
I propped open the radiator shroud and installed a airaid intake on mine. It was the only mod at the time and I noticed no difference in anything other that a slightly more throaty sound from the motor. I would say that if you are not going to do any other mods....ie long tubes, axle back, intake mani .....then hold off. if you really want one, keep an eye open in the for sale section here. you can catch em used for a great price all the time

Thanks Power Hawk, I will check it out. I have owned some nice older cars but this is my first vette. Very impressed so far.
