Default Tires Question

Hello All,

I just purchased my corvette a few months ago and i do not like the tire setup the guy had on the car. The rims are Fronts 19x9 Backs 20x11. The tire setup he had was Fronts 275/30/19 and the Backs 305/25/20. I wanted to see if anyone can give me the perfect tire setup with these rims.

Thank you.

I believe tirerack.com has a tire calculator for your car and different size rims. Remember that the ratio of front to back diameter needs to be retained or it will trip various warnings and more.

What don't you like about them?

Do they have the wrong offsets so they are sticking out past the fenders?

When you say 'it's tripped your TC" do you get a message in the DIC?

Pics would help.

No the setup is actually nice..

"If I'm going like around 80-85" On the dash it will say "traction control activated" and it won't let me go any faster. I have to let off the gas in order for me to accelerate any faster. I also don't like how skinny the rear tire looks over my front tire.. I think the front tire should always be skinner then the back tire.

As AORoads said, the ratio between the front and rear overall diameters have to stay within a few percent (maybe 6%+/-) of stock.

The OEM diameters for base model 18/19 inch wheels are 25.7 and 26.9 F/R.

I'm running 275-35's on 9.5X18 and 345-30's on 19X13. The diameters are 25.6 and 27.4 F/R.

I didn't want to go to 19's and 20's because I didn't want to run the short sidewalls that are required.

You can put a 325 tire on your 11" wide rears, the fronts are probably OK.

I have used the Tire Rack for information about diameters and recommended wheel widths for specific tires. Pretty easy to navigate and very useful.

Here's some info from Forum Guru Bill Dearborn with more specifics.

I've never looked at diameters for the 19/20 setup.

If you use the Tire Rack and the multipliers in the attached doc you should be able to come up with a workable combination.

I'd run the numbers for what you have first and if they fall within the specs, you might have to start looking elsewhere.

You can take your car to Autozone/etc and see if there are any codes that might be indicating a different problem like a faulty wheel sensor.
