Certainly not an expert, but I don't think you can...

I did the same last year. I've been researching how to repair chrome rims and there really are not many options. I did buy some chrome rim guards that covered the scratch and they match so well you can't really see them but that is only temporary and it looks like they don't make them anymore.

I am going to try some chrome paint that is two part along with epoxy to go over the paint and fill some of the deeper scratches. If it works, I will post the results.

Wellll.....I would be feeling just as bad!!!! The options are slim....there are shops around here that specialize in automobile chrome work and if I were in the same situation I would try them first...it may involve some grind/polish kind of work followed by "rechrome"......the second ( and probably only other ) option is a replacement wheel......it will depend upon what either option costs of course. Bottom line is there is no easy way for you to fix this yourself.

Oh brother, been there done that. You may be able to pick a good one up on Ebay, or maybe even the sale section of the forum. Good luck.

What is your time worth?

You are going to pay more to remove, dismount tire, repair damage, rechrome, remount tire, rebalance, and reinstall your existing wheel than just purchasing a replacement.

Replacement OEM Speedline Grandsport chrome wheel from Bob at House of Wheels was like $250 to my door.

+1 ^^ Did you do it parallel parking or drove into it too close? Before I parallel park I always move my passengers side mirror so I can see the curb.

My wife curbed both of my passenger side wheels. They are painted gloss black and it was still cheaper to buy new ones than to have them repaired and repainted.

There are several shops around OKC that do wheel repair. One of the best is Wheel Works.

Had the same issue a few years back. After a lot of research and phone calls to wheel specialists I learned that there are only two options. One is to have the damaged wheel repaired and re-chromed at a cost that is usually more than what a replacement wheel can be had for. The other option is to simply purchase a replacement wheel; that is the route I took.

Chrome is tough, but unforgiving. I agree that buying a replacement would be cheaper than repair/rechrome. Sorry.

My Passenger side were curbed. I bought ZR1 rims. I have the drivers side rims (1 front & 1 rear). They are OEM Speedlines that were painted blk by the original owner. Both are in excellent condition. All you'd need to do is get it chromed. You can have whichever one you need for $50 and shipping.

It's not only not right, its actually illegal.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (which is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission) makes it illegal for companies to void your warranty or deny coverage under the warranty simply because you used an aftermarket or non-OEM part. Still, if it turns out that the aftermarket or non-OEM part was itself defective or wasn't installed correctly, and it causes damage to another part that is covered under the warranty, the manufacturer or dealer has the right to deny coverage for that part and charge you for any repairs.

The FTC says the manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket or recycled part caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage.

Well, ask. I don't agree with these others that it won't cause an issue with this car. These modern cars and all recent BMW's have CAN Buses which will malfunction if they sense a non compatible device attached to them. Guys who have BMW bikes with CANs and, in the field, do repairs on them using an electric welder soon end up with a brick and not a bike.

I can't say this is it, but it could be and if you're told so, don't disbelieve it. I've seen these things in action and seen how easy it is to put them out of action too.
