Default Tire date code

Im looking at purchasing a new set of tires just curious on how old is to old of a new set of tires to buy? I need a set of nitto invos 345/25/20 I was told they where on national back order. Then a company found a set in arizona. Need to check date.

Age by itself is not a problem. If new tires have always been stored correctly and not exposed to the elements and sun you can almost disregard the age completely. Environmental exposure and improper inflation are the killers.

Whether the 6 year limit is true or not, i don't think I'd buy new tires that were more than 6 or 9 months old. You don't have to ... might as well get the freshest you can get.

If you buy from TireRack you won't get old tires. I think they even mention that on their site somewhere. I ordered two rears from them and they were manufactured the month before.

Not true. I bought RE-11's last march from TR and the date code indicated they were two years old.

Hmm. That's not what I read somewhere ... web site, the invoice, or some such. Just a vague memory. Or perhaps vivid imagination?
