I warned my wife if they tried to tell me that I will start laughing at them and call them out on it. Since the Escape only has 9k miles on it, they didn't try that one on me. It really kind of disappointed me because I have always had good luck and somewhat trusted them.

Now that has been going on for a long time. I don't buy the idea that they swell though....I have seen those 'caps' get loose and cause issues.Just remove the 'cap' and use the correct size socket on it....my guess is that someone gets carried away and rounds off the real nut to the point where it is nearly impossible to remove it.
I seem to remember hearing something like that a while ago. What I can't remember is whether it was true...
Oops, I shoulda searched first. There is a lawsuit against Ford for that very issue. They are a two piece lug nut (steel and chrome cap) and do, indeed, swell. The affected vehicles include Escape.
Damn, the LSDHL drives an Escape.

Years back I had my Ranger in there for something, I think to change antifreeze, and I told them while it was there to do the brakes because it was getting about time. They called me a few hours later and said the brakes didn't need to be done yet, they still had a little life left in them. I told them to go ahead anyhow but it surprised me after I told them to do it they would call and say it wasn't quite needed yet.
That's exactly why I HATE dealership service....actually almost any service center, I always told my daughters to call me if they tried to up-sell her on anything when having oil changed or serviced..... she called me a LOT over the years. Most items were bogus sells. One that comes to mind was a new air filter, they showed her a filthy filter full of crap.....she took a picture and sent it too me......the problem was I had just changed the filter when she was home earlier and it had only about 2000 miles on it...... AND the filter they showed her, wasn't even the right shape to fit in the housing. I don't trust most service places....dealerships in particular.

Removing the cap along side the road somewhere might be problematic and having the correct size socket might be an equal issue.
Just sayin...
I have to check and see if I have that kind. Might be a good preemptive move to put solid ones on. I need to check Amazon for a set.

Back in 08 a Mobile One quick oil change shop opened near my work. They had a special on M1 and a M1 filter cheaper than I could buy them.
Tech brought in a filter to show me, claiming I needed a new one. I laughed out loud and asked him if he even looked at my car. It had a Halltec filter on it and was pretty new. Told them as I paid I would never return because of their bullshit sales tactics.
Kind of hard to miss with the custom airbrushing on it.

It was the Fiddysix's first intro to the car culture in the Husker State...... she was not disappointed........ and neither were we...... met some guys I race with over at the Big Blue Mile....they had there Corvettes there.....along with a bunch of other Vettes......no C3's or C2's though.... every kind of vehicle imaginable.....from $100K customs to rat rods....... which were all grouped in the alley......... lots of fun.....
I thought the basers would like this one.....long and narrow and strange........ kinda like they......... nevermind.....
Or how about this Model T converted to a farm Tractor........ don't see these at many car shows do ya.......huh, huh........... probably not.........

Looks like a fun time H1.
Your nuts might not swell, chubby boy, but if you don't keep your better half happy they may turn blue.

Waiting for Amazon to deliver my new low profile floor jack. Got to be too much hassle driving up on my wood ramps. They kept being pushed around.
Looks like a nice heavy duty jack. Dual pumps and steel wheels and casters. Should be low enough to use the hockey pucks you sent me Randy.

Had a great time with Robert and Ms.427 this afternoon. Thanks again for the invite Robert. You guys really need to see the finish on his narrow, um sorta wide, kinda oh I don't know C-6 427. Smooth paint with a gloss a mile deep. Really beautiful.
Thanks for a fun afternoon to you and all your Corvette Club members that made me welcome Robert.
