this is for my widebodied brother stuck in the heartland........................

read the story at the link below, should explain a lot, going back through history, which also makes it easier to understand why he is so respected and loved, as well as hated by some too...........

^^^^ Not worth the effort to click. Cliff notes?

There is no denying how good he is or how good the team is coached and managed.......all the more reason not to like him.

At Chrysler, some who worked in my department included Gene Carrico and John Dailfor of the Golden Commando (Plymouth) racing team, Ron Mancini of Mancini Racing, his younger brother Lou is my age did not start until the mid to late '80's and we still see one another on occasion through work

Roger Lindamood of "Color Me Gone" fame worked in the Engine Lab directly across from our building, and Jim Thornton and Herman Moser worked in other vehicle Labs back then...………… Al Ekstrand, "The Lawman" also worked with us at Chrysler Highland Park Engineering complex...…………………..

EDIT: PS - thought H1 would get a kick out of Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick...……………..
You're right Robert, I remember them and many more. And, I made many a trips down that ribbon of asphalt. By the end of it's life time it was downright dangerous in the shut down area. Was at Motor City Dragway (outside New Baltimore, Mi. 26 mile and Meldrom Rd.) when the Little Red Wagon made it's first runs. They did not expect the huge wheel stands. They had planed on the rear mount engine to aid traction. Little did they know it would become the attraction it did while under the control of Bill "Maverick" Golden. Ekstrand was in the legal department when I first met him didn't know he was in engineering. You missed Gapp and Roush and their early drag cars. Roush was a genius at finding favorable rules to take advantage of. Like using their four door Maverick to be a constant winner in class. A friend of mine was approached to drive a pro stock car for them but he declined since he was just starting his cement business. Thornton and Moser and others began their drag racing careers with "The High and The Mighty" fenderless hemi powered car at the NHRA nationals held at Detroit Dragway. They pioneered suspension modifications to aid traction. The "Ramchargers" ran out of Hodges Dodge in Ferndale. The "Golden Commando's" were out of Hamilton Motors. Ace Wilson ran the "Royal Pontiac" team out of his dealership in Royal Oak. I was lucky enough to see Potter (E.J. not Harry) several times at Motor City. Once his throttle stuck and he ended up in the farmers field that was at the end of the strip. Lots of good memories in your post, thanks!

Scott

Cliff notes: Imagine that knowing some of the talented receivers and backs the Cowboys have had during his playing time, just how potentially great those teams could have been with him at QB

jealousy will get you no where.................

His success was do to the coaching and players around him as much as his talent. He would not have been nearly as successful with the Boys during the same time span. Hard to admit, but true. Jerry has been his own worst enemy.

Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even usually surpassing knowledge. E. J. Potter

I think he would fit right in with the Hammy's tribe....... our Motto...... Ignorance is Bliss.....

I got a new front splitter coming from the Extreme Online Store. Good prices compared to other places I looked. It's all about downforce you know..... I got the carbon fiber one so I won't have to paint it.

Warming up around here... the cold snap is moving on and I am glad... Have a day of bliss Hammers........

The talent shuddered, also. No, wait, they shook. Everywhere. For a long time.
