I traded my c4 for a c-6, a big upgrade mine is a 07 vertte, i find myself on the bad end of this deal, motor knocks badly when cold, found some brass copper colored stuff in oil. so have the motor out now (an act of congress).took it out the top, trying to decide where to go from here, no obvious cause yet, bet i have not dissasembled the short block, it is out and wondering what most have done, forged pistons etc, front spring pads trashed, gm available as spring assy only, crazy stuff.

replaced my g8 6.0 internals with a manley ultra lightweight stroker crank rods and pistons. all forged. was a great move. engine reved like a bike. was around 600 at the crank and put my otherwise completely bonestock g8 at 11.60 @122mph. i would imagine same setup in stock vette puts the car solidly in 10's. idled like it had a small cam in it. stock heads ported. small arh lt headers.

if i ever have to make that move it will be same upgrade exact same. except now it will be a 416ci. as opposed to the 402 given mine is LS3

this is the info I need and thank you so much! I traded my old c-4 black on black, she served me well, for this triple black vertte, z51/lt3 love the car , its wonderful. paid just shy of 25 for it 80k, did not think i would be into the motor this soon, i got on the bad end of this trade, however i have lots of payments still due and love the car. three days later I have the motor out on the engine stand, took it out the top. ( an act of congress). I know there are others that have went through this, It knocked so bad I was afraid to drive it to failure, I wanted something to work with.. Keep in mind I have 45 years working as a professional mechanic.. But the Ls series is new to me.. thanks in advance and any ideas suggestions are asked for. thanks john H.

what i would like to do is mainly reliabilty upgrades. I cant drive anywhere near this cars capabilty, Its a lot of car and not so much driver in my ability.. The tires are smoking at 70 or so with the top down, first few times i romped on it with the top down I thought it was on fire, LOL so are forged pistons and a crank worthwhile? lots of stroker packages out there, any problems with taking a stroker setup and keeping the ls2 heads?
thks in advance, i am thinking ls7 lifters , chain, not sure about rockers yet

I think yours is the exception. As a rule, the LSxs are pretty bullet-proof. I'd just drop in a crate motor and call it a day. If you do want more power, there is never a better opportunity to cam it than when its on the stand.

Here is a PDF (download before they remove it if you think it would help) guy gives you tons of information/ideas specifically for the LS2 engine.

I hope it helps!
