Bent wheel question
Last week I had a new set of tires installed at Discount Tire
and when they balanced then they discovered 3 of the 4 were
slightly bent, they looked ok until the installer spun the wheels
on the balancer, then they warbled slightly. He was able to balance
all the wheels with the usual amount of weights and the car drives fine,
no vibration at all. What would you do ? Is a little warble ok?
Something doesn't sound right here, if the wheel was slightly bent i find it hard to believe it would balance with the normal amount of weight, are you sure they had the wheel locked tight against the hub on the initial start up spin, and no i don't think a little wobble is ok.

Were they factory wheels and where you able to see them wobble on the balancer yourself? Could be he was trying to drive you in the direction of purchasing new aftermarket wheels. Also could be his machine was wobbly. The fact that it drives nice with no vibrations make the techs claim more suspicious to me.
I had a tech tell me one of my rims was out of round. Later I took it to a place that had a road force balancer and had it checked, and it was fine.
Same scenario happened to me two weeks ago. I was having my front tires replaced and the installer called me over to look at my wobbling wheel which he was able to balance as well. He said he could send it out and have the wobble fixed but to him it looked like a manufacturing defect, as there was no visible point of impact on the rim, and told me to take it back to my dealer and have them replace it under warranty. The dealer said it was my fault and they would not replace it. Anyway, I brought it back to my tire guy and they fixed it in an afternoon for $150 bucks.
