Default LED interior kit question

Hey guys,

Just received my complete LED kit from JWmotoring. the LEDs all look like what I was expecting but there are 2 rectangular ones that I have no idea what to do with. Anyone with experience on this have an answer?

They go in the hatch, in the corners. Easiest to replace. Mirror are the hardest. I used a small pair of channel locks.

Okay i'll take a look. Was just off-put by their appearance, thought i'd have to do some complicated electrician stuff. But i'll take a look in the hatch and will probably better understand..

I bet the yellow ones are for the mirror. Just need light directed down.

Yeah those just loop around the contacts for the trunk lights. The lights in the mirror are a pain. Make sure you get the lights to turn off before removing otherwise you are pulling the lights off while they are lit, and they get hot. For me I wrapped a little piece of masking tape around the bulbs to get a better grip on them and was able to get a pair of needle nose pliers in there enough to wiggle them back and forth. Some use dental floss and loop it around the lights (didn't work for me). wiggling them got them out easier.

That is almost the same light used in the footwells of the C4. C6 hatch lights I am talking about. Technology marches on. Lol

The smaller yellow ones are for the front side markers, they are smaller due to less room under the plastic of the marker. And I got my latch ones on, did burn myself a bit, didn't think they would get that hot that quickly! Lesson learned.

So the red ones...will work for all the interior even the map lights? just will need to get those others for the rear hatch?

Exactly. The hatch is the only one that requires the rectangular looking ones.

Yes. My kit only had two types. Interior and side markers were the same, hatch different.

I also bought amber and red for side markers, and was under the impression that I could simply pull the side markers out, and now it doesn't seem like the case..

For the rear ones remove the outer tail light. Reach in and squeeze the tabs on the marker lens to remove.

For the front you need to remove some of the push pins on the wheel well liner to reach the side marker.

Don't remember if you squeeze or push out on the tabs. You'll figure it out. They will pop out with bulb and harness attached.

I used the small zip-tie trick to get the maplights out. Drivers side fought me, was really tight. Passenger side popped right out first try.

Always test them before putting stuff back together as they only work one way and not the other way.

You can easily test the exterior lights by hitting lock on fob then unlock twice and they will turn on.

I didn't get the whole kit. I changed out just the license plate lights and map lights with white LEDs. Wow, what a difference...

I pieced mine together all separately. Apparently a few websites have the maplight ones listed wrong.

I bought the proper ones though. So far I have swapped the maplights, hatch, license plate, rear side marker, and reverse lights.

I have to still do the front side marker, fogs, high beams, and the under dash lights. I have them, just got to install.
