I have a 11 GS A6 with 25k on the clock. My check engine light came on today I was 30 miles from my mechanic that could check the codes. I drove it watching the info and gages. Got it checked and it's a Turbine Shift Speed Sensor. Has anyone had this go bad? if so cost to get replaced? is it a drivetrain warranty item? Any help would be Appreciated.
Must be a Chrysler with that TURBINE in there. Why would the check engine light come on for a speed sensor? That sounds more like a cruise control thing than an engine thing. I would venture to say however, that since the word "shift"is in there,it's tranny related and therefore under the powertrain warranty assuming your car isn't 5 years old.

Code P0716 is an issue with the transmission input speed sensor performance. It read below 653 rpm for more than 4 seconds and did not recover. This is a type A code which resets as soon as the issue is no longer present. If the issue ever returns then it would be a drive train issue.
