Default Console Configuration

2011 Standard Corvette

In the console facing toward the front are three access points or holes. One holds a cigarette lighter type socket - the other two have some type of cap inside the console apparently kept in place by small screws.

1. Are the ones with inside caps available for additional cigarette lighter style sockets? If so, undoing the screw does what - lets the cap (inside the console) to fall away back into the area unreachable from the console?
2. Is the area behind the two cap areas blank such that I can remove one of the caps, snake a wire forward toward the ash tray to use for an aftermarket switch or is there something in the way?

If you are referring to the 2 plastic caps next to the console cigarette lighter/power port, they are covers for 2 screws that secure the console to the floor. I don't think there would be enough room to mount any kind of switch in either of those 2 holes. If you do a search for console removal, Ray Kawal has posted excellent photos of every part of the console. You could probably tell by looking at those photos if what you want to do is feasible.

Are they rectangular? Those are for the seat heater switch if so equipped.

Another, much easier option would be to buy a splitter that will provide you with at least two power ports. I did a quick google search and they are about $15 and don't take up much room at all.
