Not going to jump ship to Dodge but was looking at a Viper this am that was parked at local convience store. Owner and I struck a conversation and he is former Vette owner and admitted even though he loves his Viper he was in the market for another Vette. (Chevy guy all his life )
Really did not have time to really talk but just curious as to the comparisons between the 2 I have read and watch some stuff on the performance end but more or less just common pros and cons between the 2 out of curiosity
Viper dropped out of competitive racing last year when there were a couple of thousand of them left unsold on dealer lots. They had to drop the price over $15k off list to get rid of them. If I'm not mistaken, they couldn't break 4,000 cars sold in 2014 which caused them to have to halt production.

The statement stands. Viper is not longer racing with factory supported cars. As far as the Tudor Sports Car Championship, that was Viper's last competitive appearance.
The newest Viper interior quality is on par with the C7......the Sabelt seats are pretty good. I have limited seat time in the Viper but if I had to replace my car today with something new I would pick the Viper over the C7 Z06 I think.......sad that they no longer have a factory supported race team, it was fun to watch the Vipers and Corvettes run at Petit Lemans.
It depends on what year you're talking about. Gen V Vipers are really nice, and if I could straight up trade my ZR1 for one, I would seriously consider it. The interiors are nicer than the C7 (IMO). Some people hate the looks, I personally love them. They're a little more "raw" than the C7 (comparing it to the Z06 here, it blows the base out of the water), but not in a bad way. You sit lower in the car. Imagine sitting in a normal chair and pushing in a clutch compared to sitting on the ground, level with the clutch and pushing it in. Because of the seating position it feels heavier than it actually is (at least to me).
Build and paint quality is better IMO, but that's to be expected with a completely hand built car. I'm glad they introduced the CC brake option. As an overall package, the Viper is just a better car than the Corvette. I might be in the minority on the forum when I say I actually prefer Vipers to the C7Z easily, and if given the choice between the C6 ZR1 and a gen V Viper, I would be torn between the two.

That's all just one person's opinion though.
You never know until you own one, I have heard negative comments but if I owned one maybe my opinion would change.
i for one, do not like the style of the viper at all. it kind of resembles the old jaguar from the 70's. whether you disagree with that statement or not it's just my opinion. the style of the corvette has it all over the viper.
I had a recent conversation with a vette friend that ended up buying an '08 viper- the first year of the 600hp engine with cam-in-cam phasing. He does have some buyer's remorse because of the extra expense for a car that isn't something he says he can drive regularly. He misses convenience items like power seats, a comfortable seating position, and a less harsh suspension setup.
Love the vipers, in a few years I intend to replace my C6Z with either a Viper TA or ACR. My C6Z is great for what it is designed for, road courses, but the C7Z has been a major disappointment in that regard with the weight gain and SC engine. The viper with its NA V10 and track focused design seems like a more natural progression to the C6Z than the C7Z.
