Yesterday, I was showing my GS to a couple of high school guys ...they really thought it was "cool" and all of that , but one of the guys says to me: "So, how many cylinders is the engine?" First time EVER anyone ever asked me that question!!!
I've read articles that said kids (teens) and millennials don't care that much about cars anymore - atleast beyond the point it gets them from point A to point B.
I don't get it - I have always been in love with cars; especially as a teen/young adult. I'm 44 now, and I don't see that ever changing

As a teen you didn't have an iphone or the internet to keep you entertained and "in touch " with your buddies.

A first!!!
It is a very different world now. Very few kids are into cars these days due to so many other interests surrounding them not the least of them being all the toys of technology.
It's not a first. I had the same question asked when I had my C5. I jokingly told the guy that I got the economy option with a 4 cylinder engine.
Apparently the kids that asked you hadn't taken "Shop" in high school. I didn't either, but the guys who wore motorcycle jackets to school every day did.
The cars that most teens/twenties are into today are primarily 4 cylinders (ricers to CF). For the most part, they think the Vette is for old people and they have little interest in them.

I'm not sure about that. I think it is just out of their reach financially. Most of my sons friends would love to have a car like mine, but the cost and insurance make it impossible.
They are making some pretty impressive 4 bangers, I can't wait to test drive the Focus RS. 360 hp and all wheel drive.

When I enter my Vette into cars shows the kids and older people eat it up. The teens/twenty year olds are all over the hondas, toyota etc...
Though they are complimentary, I do get the "Vettes are for old people" once in awhile

I'm not sure why the carmakers are heading toward turbo-charged 4 bangers so much. Our V8 Corvettes get just as good a gas mileage on the highway as the fours do. And my V6 Caddy ATS does too. My 4 banger Subaru Forester NA is only about 25 mpg at freeway speeds, whereas the Caddy and Vette are both about 30.

Got my license at 16 in '69. 'Shared' my first car with the old man.
A stripped down Hemi Red '69 Dart Swinger 340 w/ 727 3 speed, AM radio, bench seats & plastic simulated 'carpet'.
Learned the very meaning of 'freedom of the road' in that car, never lost my love for the road either which is where Corvette came in to my life today.
Doesn't seem the passion is there anymore these days.
Watching Mecum I'm seeing an awful lot of beautiful cars of all marques go w/o buyers, further reinforcing the notion.
Kids now a days don't want the responsibility of owning and maintaining a car. Getting their drivers license is too much work. They get Mom & Dad to take them to hang out at the mall. I couldn't wait to get my license, then my first car. I've got my grandson liking cars, he's only six, but he wants to get his own Corvette when he gets to drive..... now just gotta work on my granddaughters...... I'm gonna make them all "gear heads"
Great discussion.....the two guys were really interested in the car, but the "cylinder" comment just blew me away....but as has been said, its a different world today....I grew up in the late 50's and 60's with car commercials all featuring "powerful V8" wording and such ....sometimes today I don't even UNDERSTAND the car ads because half the time it's not even about the car!!!
We are fortunate that the brand still is alive and does NOT have a supercharged 4!!

The new Camara has a turbo 4 option.
Never thought I would see that.
