Default Paddle shift Question

2012 GS Had it out today after storage all winter.I used the manual mode
The issue is the gear indicator on the dash always stays at M1 the trans does shift up and down as I use the paddles. The HUD does change as as I go through the gears The paddles work fine with the exception of the indicator on the dash
Any ideas on what is going on?

Not positive since I have an 07, but I think it is working correctly. HUD takes priority if available and only when HUD is not available does the DIC show the gears.

Try different HUD modes and see if I am correct. If it does not display in HUD it will display in DIC.

I also have an '07 with HUD and it only shows in the DIC if I have the NAV system going and the NAV is indicating something at the time then it is in the DIC.

Did you look at your owners manual?

Thanks for all the reply's guys Just went for a ride
M1 is always on in the DIC no matter where the shifter is
neutral D,S When I use the paddles in S as I go through the gears
the HUD changes but the DIC stays in M1.Tried it in all modes Track 1&
2&street.Everything works fine with the paddles except the display in the DIC always M1 no matter what
Something not right As I said this is after the car was laid up for the winter with a battery tender Car started right

A shot in the dark: I had an electrical gremlin after winter storage (see here) and Dano, one of the resident experts, set me straight: like re-booting your PC when it's going crazy, do the same thing to the car by disconnecting the battery.

Check the above link for his explanation.
