Block needs to be drained to get all the dexcool out. the driver's side block drain is just ahead of the engine mount. it is a very large plug, because this is also where they install a block heater option. the passinger side is a pain. you must remove the starter to get to it. it is a small plug, easy to access when the starter is removed.

This why I have the dealership do it with there machine that sucks out all the old fluid and then pumps fresh fluid back in with no air bubbles.
I can do it myself, but I know I won't be able to get all the old fluid out.
I see you are over the pond, and dealership might be hard to get to that has proper equipment.

Drain, refill with distilled water, run engine, drain again, refill, run engine ........etc until clear fluid comes out, usually about three cycles will do it. Then fill with final Dexcool mixture.

Suggest running it until the coolant temp gets up above 200'F and you can get some heat out of the heater, so everything is fully circulated.

You have to do this because of the fluid in the block, which will eventually flush it all out ...or deal with the blocks drain plugs which sounds like a PITA, or take it to dealership service stealer center. Problem is will the service stealer s actually do it? Or just tell you they did? They can test it and if it is good, simply say they did it and not do it....maybe I am just paranoid.. Or maybe I know that if you want it done right, or done at all you better do it yourself!

That is what I do except I use clean drinkable tap water like the Service Manual indicates. No need for distilled or deionized water.

Here in So CA the tap water is so hard / full of minerals that I use distilled water to prevent contaminating my coolant system.

Almost a direct quote from the service manual.

The cooling system doesn't benefit from distilled water any more than the human body benefits from drinking it. If the water has no minerals at all, it will pull minerals from the interior of the system...simple. Same concept works for maintenance of swimming pools and hot tubs. Cooling system temperatures are higher, so the process is accelerated.

Just remember they'll be some liters of that clear water left behind in block. So if you add 50/50 premix it'll get diluted some more. I like to divide total capacity by half & add that amount of straight coolant directly. It'll mix with the water in block to proper mix. Add more plain water to top off if needed.

Yes because if you store your car during winter, you don't want to crack the engine block if the coolant freezes.
