Newbie, my very first Corvette(C6 grand sport) need help on a few things.
hello guys,
im new to the corvette scene...and i just recently got myself a 2011 Corvette grand sport! I always wanted a corvette grand sport and now it literally just happened!
Just curious on a few things, if you guys can help me!
whats the name of my color of my car?
at first time having one, i noticed my car having a lil shake on idle. as if it has a small misfire..but no check engine. Buddy has a corvette too, and he told me its normal in the corvette. True??
whats the difference of the grand sport and a base model? other than the wide fenders?
My car has 41k miles, and the place i got it, it has minimal warranty because of the year of the car..is there anything i should change as it sits now? spark plugs, any filters? any thing that is a need to?
i know i heard of the pull the fuse for the muffler valves...i noticed mine is always open. does it make any difference other the sound? would it damage anything in the long run?
Could be something simple...but i also noticed my a/c works awesome on the go, but at a stop or idle it isnt cold cold...should it need freon or should i just check it with a mechanic?
is the dealer the only place to get an extra key??
Mine came with the plastic top blue tinted panel, where can i get the color match panel? recommendations?
is it true, to lower the car i just need some bolts?
Any other suggestions or advice on things you noticed on ur corvette or things i should know about a corvette? anything helps! thanks in advance!!
im super excited!!!

Your colors official name is JSB JetStream Blue. My 08 happens to be JSB.
Lopey idles is product of the cam.
Grand Sport is the wide body and suspension of the Z06 with the power of the LS3. Many differences over the base.
I installed the foot operated switch for the NPP exhaust...no fob to lose or replace a battery on. I leave it open unless my SO is with me. Cruising at less than 75 can give you a good drone.
As far as the roof panel, keep searching the c6 parts forum and fleabay. Make sure you understand how the panel work so you don't become part of the FRC flying roof club. First thing I do in getting in is to make sure all latches are secure. The clear roof panel will heat the car good in direct
sunlight.

Welcome ... my friend has the exact same color GS also... 2nd best color behind silver of course... actually the blue is sweeeet ... as far as what you need to do is maybe a loaded question - depends how much money you want to spend ... these cars stock are wonderful - add things and it gets better ...

Welcome that's a nice color you have there. I traded my 07 Coupe for a 13 GS last month. There are many differences between the base and Grand sport but the suspension and wide fenders are the biggest I think. All Corvettes are nice in my opinion
Good Luck with her and many smiles and miles. Don't forget to wave

Welcome. The blue color is called "great looking blue color that sets off the fine lines of the car beautifully." Our 2011 GS ragtop lopes a bit idling as well. Not much lope when we press down on throttle, though. We have a fob that controls mild to wild. Wild makes the car interesting to listen to on shorter trips, but (for us, at least) becomes tedious to the ears as the miles and hours pile up. You may want to enable that feature so you have the option to quieten her down a bit.
We trudge on.

Great looking car by the way and welcome to the forum.
I'm going to mention this just in case you haven't thought about it. Be careful pulling into parking spaces (the ones that have the concrete stops) because the front of the GS may scrape "ask me how I know?". When I first got my car I went to Lowes and pulled into a spot and I wasn't used to the long hood yet and I pulled in too far and I scraped the gray spoiler (i'm not sure what it's called) under the front end of my car. I was sick and I didn't realize I did it until I came back to the car.
Unless you are a fan of the loud exhaust i'd replace the fuse and close the mufflers and let the NPP do it's thing. It's quiet under normal driving, but when you give it some gas it opens and sounds pretty good. You can install a "Mild to Wild Switch" in 15 minutes that will allow you to open the mufflers anytime you like and they will stay open until you close them. I have one on my car and sometimes I like the quiet when I'm cruising around. The NPP exhaust still works normally when the "Mild to Wild Switch" is closed. This is just a suggestion in case the loud mufflers starts to bother you and you can pick up a used "Mild to Wild Switch" in the Wanted/For Sale section for a good price if you don't want to buy a new one. I think the new ones go for about $100 depending on where you buy it.
The tires for a GS are not cheap if you go with Run Flat replacements, which I do and i'm ready to have my new set installed this week after I get a replacement wheel for one of the new set of wheels I bought.
My GS has been a pleasure to own and getting rid of it has never entered my mind. I've been a Corvette fan all my life since I first started learning about cars.
Enjoy your GS....

Others answered the color question, so I'll just say that I think that is the best color ever on a Corvette. I say that, and mine is red. I really wanted red so that is what I bought. I still think the Jetstream blue is the best color I have seen. It does amazing things in different levels of lighting.
You had a lot of questions. You'll get a lot of help here, but I'll suggest that you also check out a local Corvette club. There should be some local owners that will be glad to help you along when you have questions. Also, they can probably point you to the best places to go for maintenance if you are going to have someone do that for you.
I'll also suggest that you complete your profile. It lets us know a little about you. Congratulations on getting a beautiful car.

Nice GS, so are the ice sickles hanging from the house to celebrate the new car or an early start to the Christmas season ?

Beautiful color on a great car! Congrats, and welcome.
I have bought several used cars in the past. If you don't know the maintenance history of the vehicle, I would change all the fluids... trans fluid, differential fluid, flush the radiator, and an oil/filter change. Bleed the brakes. Power steering fluid is probably just fine.
But that's just me. I'm pretty **** about that kind of stuff.
