I know there has been discussions in the past but wondering if there are any updates to adding backup camera capability to the factory navigation.
This would also be of interest to me, but I would like it even more if the display is in the mirror as it is on my Traverse. That was an option on the 2009 Traverse. Not sure if it is still available that way, but I like it better than on the dashboard because I am already using the mirrors when backing up.
So far, nobody has been able to do a good camera installation which displays in the Nav.
Some of the aftermarket Navs work well and display a camera, but you lose the directions displayed in your HUD.
Several years ago, someone (a dealer, I think) did install one of the rearview mirrors that displays the camera; and posted about it. Advanced Search might find it for you.
LV2TOUR put the monitor in his sun visor, replacing the mirror. Someone else used a flip-up screen down by his knee.
I Have one that is a mirror that clipped over my mirror and still had the Onstar buttons visible below, works well for me, and is hard wired.
I wired it to the reverse lights so only comes on in mirror when in reverse.

That looks like a neat idea, although I don't need to see the Onstar buttons.
Amazing. The supplier is about 15 miles from my house. Did you need to make any holes to route the wires? Did you need to remove any trim to hide the wire going to the mirror?
I think I am guilty of hijacking this thread that was supposed to be about rear view camera in the GM navigation display. Should we start a new thread called something like - Rear View Camera With Mirror Display?

Reason: Realized this is getting off topic for the thread

I tapped into the backup light wires, drilled a hole through the rear panel behind the tail lights to fish the wires through, ( camera and power wires) then ran the wire under the trim all the way to the front and under the windshield trim, the video and power wire from rear plug into mirror, the clip is expandable and is a little tight getting it over but it will fit.

Ordered it, got it, hooked up just like you stated. No problems at all. Actually, I did screen power to fuse box and camera to back up lights. Then only had one wire to run forward. Thanks for the recommendation. It was a little hard to drilling that hole in the rear panel, but worked great. Really like the back up camera. Getting older and it's getting harder to check all around while backing - LOL. This helps greatly.

Do you guys think this kit might work for a front camera?
Of those that have installed your backup cameras, can you tell me the plus and minus wire colors of the backup lights. I purchased a Yada unit with the 4.3" display and plan to mount it above the rear view mirror.

Awesome, glad it worked out well for you.

Look at the different types of camera, the one I got mounts on the license plate frame, there are some that are not built into a frame, so yes you could mount to the front, but obviously would need to wire to a power source, probably with a switch.
I had the OEM Nav Radio in my 2010 modified by NAVTV in Florida and went with a Kenwood 220 camera (no guide lines). It is expensive, but the results are great.

No but here's some pics I just took. Got it on EBay for about $35
It looks kind of thick on ebay, how does it look installed, Is it very obvious that is clipped over the front of the original mirror? Does the auto dim feature still work from the OEM mirror?
the mirror looks kinda big but interesting. here is how i did mine, the monitor is at the top of the left vent. I have seen the monitor put on the visor and several other places.
