The other day I pressed the button to lower the convertible top and nothing happened. Nothing noted on the DIC. I drove several miles, tried again and it worked. Maybe a fluke? Has anyone else experienced this? I REALLY don`t want to bring her in. Thanks

It has never happened to me. I have an 08. Bought it in Dec 08. My top has been up and down well over 800 times now. Maybe just a fluke.
If the windows are not properly indexed the top won't move and there is no DIC message.
Not sure what may happen in a M6 if the parking brake isn't set/switch is intermittent. I would think you should get a message like the A6 not being in Park.
Just a guess if either applies in this odd case.
Do you know how to manually operate your power top?

This is the first thing to check. My top would work intermittently when I first bought the car. Took it to the dealer, tech re-indexed the windows, and it was good to go. If the windows are OK, I would say it was just a fluke. With that said, I do push the top up a bit to help it get going.

I always do that, too. Just an inch or so, but it always works if I do that, and sometimes doesn't if I don't. I figure there is a sensor in there somewhere that may not be perfectly adjusted, but it's so easy just to give the top a little push after unlocking it with the handle.
There is a switch in the top of the driver's side A-pillar that determines if the top is up or not.
Don't know how to adjust it, but I also just give the top a little push to get the "Top Not Secure" DIC msg. and the 'ding-ding-ding's' that go along with it.
The only times my top has been sluggish to move was when the pressure relief valve on the pump wasn't closed down tight. Happened again when my battery started to fail.
