Hey guys- Is it worth putting on a cai on my 05 if I don't do headers? I like how they look but I only have corsa x pipe and sport cat back which I know is not really a performance mod. Do I gain anything over the stock set up? I should have used search but its easier to just ask you catsThx
the stock Air filter is actually better then most CAI's out there if you do get one make sure you do your research on them and have it tuned and even with the tune you will not see that much of an increase over the stock Air filter.
I put a Blackwing on my C5, and while it sounded better, my gas mileage actually dropped some, and I couldn't tell any difference in performance. It wasn't tuned though, and the only other mod was a Borla catback.
send me $500. I will then send you a note instructing you to place said note under your hood for a gain of 19 HP. It's the same as buying a big filter so called CAI.
I put Vararam on my C5 and I loved it. I picked up 4 tenths and 3mph in the 1/4 mile after putting it on. I could not beat a friend's Vette ever before I put it on. Afterwards he couldn't couldn't beat me. He couldnt believe it and he wanted one after that. I will be adding one to the C6 here soon.
I put a Corsa cool air induction system on and while I liked the looks of the thing my milage dropped and I eventually went back to the stock set up on my Grand Sport. On your car some gains may be seen but I doubt if it will be much. The true induction systems like the Vararam will add horsepower at speed but they ram air.......the Corsa type induction does not.

The only thing you will notice is less money in your wallet. SNAKE OIL!
I picked up approx 38whp and 14tq on my Z after halltech cai, corsa sport axle back and tune. I'm happy with the new sound, seat of the pants feel and new driving experience so to me, money well spent.
Corsa- sound improvement
Cai- sound and seat of the pants feel
Tune- changed whole driving experience.
I have the vararam on mine without a tune or headers, yet. I had read where the vararam cai was better than the stock intake and is the reason I switched over. Not sure if I will go for the canned tune or not, haven't made up my mind yet. Verdict is still out on the headers. Hate to put headers on my car only to lose value on a car that is still worth a quite a bit. But then again, I have no desire to put my car on the market anytime soon.

Thx for the replies. I am going to leave it alone. It's all stock except for the corsa parts and it gives me a rush as is. Maybe down the road I will go for more.
I'd keep it stock. I do have a Blackwing on mine but that was due to the previous owner.
There is a speed shop near here that advertises a package that includes a Blackwing filter, Corsa Sport and tune resulting in 30hp. I'm guessing 95% of that is the tune.

Yep...the tune is going to be worth 25 of said 30hp, but the extra airflow allows the tune to be more benefit than it would be on a bone stock car.
Unless one is willing to do a tune, I would not waste the time/$$ on a CAI, either. Most likely the fuel trims will be off (maybe even enough to set a CEL), and the thing will need a tune then anyway.
