I found a post on here a t=year ago about an app for Android phones and it sated that am OBD II ELM 327 interface was need to run the application. The app is called Torque and it gives all sorts of different reading and has the ability to supply real time video while driving and the data on the car.
Has anyone tried it?
I ordered the Bluetooth reader (24.99) from amazon 2 days ago. just waiting for it to arrive. I will be running it with the torque program. I was told to get the paid version (4.99).
Mine works great...got it from Amazon also. Don't buy off Ebay as there are many that are substandard and will only work partially or not at all. Torque works great. You can use the free version to start with, but then get the pro version for $ 4.99. It does much more and also it is best to support app developers who make good apps. If they don't get support, they may stop updating and making the app better.
Got mine on sale at amazon for like $18 and use the torque lite which was free. I don't use it all the time but have used it and it does work well, you can pick and arrange gauges any way you want on the screen, there are quite a few different things you can watch.
It also lets you scan and clear engine codes. Well worth the money to have.
Android can use bluetooth but iphone needs wi-fi.
Only thing I ran into is if you have bluetooth to the radio for cell calls for some reason my phone lost the pairing to the car radio but still had the bluetooth to the scan module. It would connect to both for awhile then I had to re-pair with the radio as it would no longer find it. Don't know if it was just my phone or what.
