Hello corvette people I have a question. This morning wife call an said service active handling system came on?Has anyone had this problem ?Also will the car be OK to drive with light on? I'm going 2 pick car up from her job an bring it home. The car is a 05 with 40,000 miles on it
Maybe it was a TSB and not a recall. There is a small clip that they put over a wire harness that goes into the steering wheel position sensor. When the telescopic steering column was adjusted out it was pulling on that harness and causing active handling to activate.
Thanks do u no if could fix it at home or to the dealer?
There are more than 6 reasons for the SAH error message. Each is a seperate service code , meaning a different problem and cure. You can do the steering comb fix yourself , but unless you have the error code(s) read, you have no clue if your fixing the SAH problem.
1) You must get codes read.
2) Code reader must be a professional one, not a simple one we (most of us) have.
3) SAH error message MUST be present when you turn off the car and read the error codes. Because, if error isnt present when you turn off the car (to have codes read), the codes are absent and none will be present.
There are MANY MANY posts/threads on this subject. I have the error in winter time (below 50ish) every year and ignore it until summer again, when the SAH disappears. I have had codes read and nothing makes sense, so i ignore it.

I got this warning. I bought the comb and removed the lower dash cover to install it. I found that I already had a comb. So, I reseated the comb and pulled on the wiring harness to take any stress off of the connector. Then, I secured the wires and connector with tie wraps.
Problem fixed - no more warning and I did not have to deal with the dealer.
There was a recall. When I had the headlight recall done they also did the recall for active handling.I had just got the car 6 months earlier- did everything no charge.

Does your car have the power/tilt steering column? I get this warning for a while, then it goes away. What I do is, move the steering column in & out and the problem usually goes away. I'm gonna have to get behind the dash & reseat the "comb" that was installed a few years ago..... just too lazy right now. I usually turn the TC off anyway. Good luck.
