I have a 05 base model. I have read that wheels off a grand sport will not fit? What is the difference between the models? Or is it the offset of the wheel?

The body panels are 1.5" wider than a base model, so the wheels will be 1.5" further away from the rotor hub than your base wheels.
If you like the look of the grand sport wheels, you can get reproductions.
There are a number of issues. First the front wheels are 18x9.5 while the base wheel is 18x8.5, so there is a one inch difference. The there is the offset issue. on the base wheel it is 56mm and on the GS wheel is is only 40mm'
On the rear the base wheel is 19x10 with an off set of 79mm and the GS wheel is 19x12 with an offset of 59mm.
So as mentioned the wheel and tires from the GS will extend out beyond the lip of the front and rear fender, plus in the from if you run the stock tire size for the GS wheel I believe you may have an issue with rubbing when you turn and it may also rub on the inner fender panel in the rear with the stock GS tire size.
Thanks for the info! I'm a new vette owner and I'm still learning. I have the silver painted 5 spoked wheels and looking for polished or chrome wheels.
