Default Problem with tpms reset tool (OEC-T5)

Hi guys

I have receved my tpms reset tool (OEC-T5) but i can't manage to register my tpms sensor on my 07'vette...

I know that my sensors are good (all get news but have already been register in that car a few month ago)

This is what i do:
- put car in accessory mode
- press unlock and lock buttons on keyfob till the car horn once.
- i put the tpms tool on the side of the tyre just above the wheel sensor of the front left wheel and i press on the only button on the tool..

I tried that many time.... nothing!

battery of tmps tool are new. Once i get the rear left sensor to activate (car horn) but no more (and not anymore?)

Am I forgetting something? what can i do to force the car to learn this XXXXXX sensors?

thanks for your help

Nic

I had saved this from some earlier posting....

The 2005-2009 C6 came with sensors that require a TPMS tool.
In 2010 they changed the TPMS computer in the car, and it uses a different tire pressure sensor. That sensor was installed in 2010 cars, and in 2011 model year car built in Dec 2010 or earlier.
In Jan 2011 they started using a different sensor (same TPMS that they started using for the 2010, just a different sensor).
The sensors in 2010's and 2011's built through Dec 2010 can be triggered by changing air pressure.
The sensors they started installing in Jan 2011 once again REQUIRE a TPMS tool.

So.....
•2005-2009 require a TPMS tool; they use a gray sensor GM part# 25758220
•2010 and 2011 built up through Dec 2010 don't need a tool; their OE sensors are green and GM part# 15268606
•Cars built since Jan2011 require a tool; their OE sensor is black and GM part# 20925924

The 2005-2009 must use the gray sensor - the other ones won't work with its TPMS computer.

HOWEVER....All 2010 and newer C6's have the same TPMS computer and can use either the green or black sensor. If I had a 2010 or newer and got a second set of wheels/tires that I was only going to change infrequently, I would get the green sensors so I wouldn't need a TPMS tool (at least one way - I'd still need it if I put wheels with black sensors back on the car).

i assume you know how to reprogram, but including this link anyway...

All our sensors for U.S./Canada spec cars transmit on 315 mHz. Euro spec cars transmit on 434 mHz (at least the 2005-2009 European C6, I'm not sure about the 2010-2013). The 434 mHz Euro sensors are orange. Also, something i just found, but sounds like unlikely applies to your case... "Actually, there is another sensor that works in the 2005-2009 that can be programmed into the TPMS with a magnet, but they were discontinued after about two months of the 2005 model year production (about July or August 2004). They were used in the 2004 XLR, but also discontinued in 2005 when the current gray sensor was put into the cars. They are very rare"

thanks for your answer, but i already know that. As I said, I have the tmps reset tool, and I already manage to register a sensor... but just one, and only one time.
So I would like to know if there security or else? (such as waiting a few min of driving to activate the sensor before reseting)

The order is front left, right front, right rear, left rear. If you already tried this order please disregard.

hey..... you said "tyre"..... that isnt USA/Canadian speak? are we talking European?
We have different sensors (color and MHZ) here and there????

If you look on the RPO code list in the glove compartment of your car, you'll see the TPMS computer that's in your car listed there:
•2005-2009 - "UJ9" HOWEVER....... "UH3 for cars built for foreign delivery, and that TPMS uses a different sensor that transmits on a foreign approved frequency"

Sooooooooooooooo...... your color of your tpms(s) are????????????
Your car expects European or USA frequency tpms????????????????

Thanks for your help

my vette is a US one, not an EU

I have also tried to drive 10 min before reseting my sensors.... I remember that last time we manage to do it, i had to test it so many times...

Is there a special procedure (force one?) that we can do with the tech2 ?

thanks

I just checked and BEZ06 is not on right now, but you might send a personal message, listing your POSTING link, explaining in more detail what you did, about your car being USA not EU, color of tpms you have and stuff...
BEZ06 is the expert

Newbie here. Why do you need to reset the sensors? If you change the tires, do you need to reset the sensors? I have an 08 so it looks like I need to buy one of those reset instruments.

I have no clue why OP wants to 'reset' sensors, that's something i wondered too, but i try to give answers and avoid 'why in the heck you want to' questions.

I can think of 2 reasons to 'reset'..
If you have several sets of mounted tires then you would 'tell the car' what is on it. common for those taking car to track/strip.
If you have new tires put on and they dont put them back on, where they came off, pressure will show on console for incorrect tire.

Are you starting the relearn procedure right after the initial horn chirp?

The remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) will cancel the TPM learn mode if more than 2 minutes have passed and no sensors have been learned, or if more than 5 minutes have passed for the entire procedure.

That video is super informative. I love to learn by watching instructional vids and that one was easy to follow, and straight to the point.

Half of you guys suck at playing "Where is waldo"

nick0 location,
Flins sur seine
Uses the world Tyre,

The vet is an export model, has export TPMS's and requires a reset tool for export TPMS sensors.

So the OEC-T5 will work fine on USA 315mhz TPMS's, but may not on the export model TPMS of 433 MHZ European frequency instead (banking that it does not)..

Next, even if the tool will work on the 433mhr frequency to trigger, we need to know if the TPMS are OEM, or if they are after market units instead. Here, although aftermarket tpms are on the 433mhr frequency, they may needed a different trigger than the OEM export TPMS's.

So nick0, what you need to do it find a TPMs reset tool that will work on the 433mhr frequency for your export TPMS in the rims, and that will trigger your export TPMS's. As for the OEC-T5 have search high and low, and can not come up with what frequency that it will work on (guessing only 315mhr only).

And a FYI, there are 4 TPMS types for the C6 corvette.
The domestic (USA) tpms/RCDLR work on on 315mhrs, while the exports (abroad) are on 433mhrs instead.
2005 to 2009 USA 315mhr
2005 to 2006 Export 433mhr
2010 to 2013 USA 315mhr
2010 to 2013 Export 433mhr

thanks for your answer

As i said, my vette is not an import one, it's a US version

I think i have found the problem. I have 2 OEM GM tps and 2 orange SC8220. The OEC t-5 seems not to be able to get the orange SC8220 to register, the OEM register without problem.

I need to find a tmps reset tool that can do orange SC8220...

actually, i dont think you yet understand!!!!!

the tpms when activated using the OEC-T5, makes the tpms send a signal to the car, at a frequency that the car is capable of receiving.

if you have a USA version car, you MUST have tpms that send the correct frequency. in your case GRAY tpms.

you can call the company that sells the device, and they might tell you that it can 'trigger' your ORANGE EU version tpms. BUT this doesnt matter anyway!!!

the car will never receive a ORANGE tpms frequency if you are correct, that its not EU.

read again the paragraph in my post #3 , under the utube video

I would like for you to open your glove box, look in there at the RPO code list, see the values there and find one that says..
UJ9 or UH3

Report back here which one it has, it wont have both listed.

Default Autel MaxiTPMS TS601

I have original Autel MaxiTPMS TS601 TPMS reset tool
I verified it can perform as claimed, I am happy with one year free update on the internet via USB port, and built-in rechargeable Li-polymer battery.
I bought from here, althought it is a little bit expensive, you need not worry about it's quality problem, function limitation and update uncertainty.

Here is a manual about MaxiTPMS TS601, it should help people a lot. MaxiTPMS TS601 performs very well if you use it properly refer to the manual.
