Default A bittersweet event

Hi all...haven't posted for some time, but I have been reading posts. Wanted some outside perspective and advice. As you can see from my profile, I own an '05 DSOM Z51 6 speed. It has been a great car. I now have 22,500 miles on it and have decided to sell/trade in now since summer here in Nebraska is about half over. I've checked with several resources, such as KBB, Edmunds, NADA and even had the car appraised at a dealership. The results are all over the board. A trade in on a new CTS frees up my garage for an eventual C7. How much are you folks seeing out there as a reasonable trade in or cash number? I'm a business coach, so I have no issues with capitalism and making a profit, but I also want to receive a fair price. Thoughts? Thanks....one of the best things about owning a Corvette is this forum. Helped me install my MGW and console!

The problem with KBB, Edmunds, etc. is they do not take regional prices into account. They are a good starting point. There's no way I could give you good info. on trade in prices, because they vary from region to region and dealer to dealer. Wish I could help you more. Good luck on the negotiations.

I can't really help you with "what it's worth", but I will relate my recent experience.....
When I checked Nada and KBB for trade in value on my 08 coupe, the websites had me enter a zip code, so I was thinking it was basing it on the region. Maybe not.
Anyway the dealers (and I went to 3 different places) offer was several thousand less than the "book" trade value.
It seems dealers want to make a large profit margin on reselling trade ins.

As others have said, prices are all over the board by region, etc. Selling/trading are two different $$$ transactions. You should be happy with selling anywhere close to $25k and trading anywhere close to $22k. Good luck.
