My passenger side sun visor mirror came loose some time ago. What to remove the mirrors and recover both visors but in the mean time came up with a temporary fix to hold it in place. 1/32 drill bit on my dremel tool and 4 #6 x 1/2 inch screws. Not pretty, but will hold it in place until I get them redone !

Not to hijack TroneMD's thread (who's temp fix looks/works better than Government Motors' design by the way), how the hell did you manage to get the visor out without destroying the flimsy plastic retainer ring (the piece with the slot for the screwdriver)???
When I went to move the visor with my screwdriver inserted in the slot of the cheap-*** retainer ring per the instructions, all it did was break away the plastic slot. Now I'm screwed! Nothing for the screwdriver to bite on.
PS: About 5 years ago, I replaced both visors in our gone-but-not-forgotten C5 convertible in about 10 minutes, no problems.
