I have looked high and low, to no avail. How do you activate the gauges without starting the engine? I went out this morning, before our monthly Corvette trip, and wanted to see how much gas was in the tank. I could not figure out how to read the gauges without starting the engine. I tried to press the accelerator down while pushing the start button...nothing. I tried using the acc button....nothing. Is there some secret procedure to reading the gauges without starting the engine? What am I missing? I cannot find anything in the owners manual.
Or... just push start button:
1) with clutch *not* depressed (manual trans)
2) with transmission *not* in 'park' or 'neutral' position (automatic trans)
Just another alternative. As always, foot on brake for safety.

The first thing I did! I read the manual, and could not find anything.
It is in the manual, but not in the section about using the push button start, where you would expect. It's actually in the section on Emission Testing and Inspection - page 3-45 of my 2008.
From: Currently somewhere in IL,IN,KY,TN,MO,AR,MS,AL, or FL

Press the bottom of the Acc. button on the instrument panel and hold the button down for five seconds. The instrument panel, including the check engine light, will light up and the ignition will be on, but the engine will not start — if you press the bottom of the Acc. button only briefly, less than five seconds, the accessory power mode will be turned on, but not the ignition.
Hey, at least the OP tried to read the manual. Most people here don't seem to know they have one.
