What did y'all do for fun before you got your Vette. I had this little bundle of fun on a dirt track. 2350 pounds , 430 cubic inch all aluminum small block, dry sump,13* heads , 820 horsepower and 560 ft lbs of torque. 14" wide tires. Throttle hung wide open and I put her in the wall. Now I feel safer in my Z06.
Lived on a boat for a total of 8 years. Sailed the Pacific and Atlantic. Ridden bikes all my life. Still do despite a wonderful off road experience which resulted in a broken back.
I"m still active in my other hobby. Home audio / Home theater....
Built movie room 150" 3D setup. Great for movies and sports. Screen is over 11 feet left to right and over 7 feet tall.
Very cool!
That's my next project, as soon as I get around to it.
When I built my home theater system, I thought a 65" 3D Samsung would be sufficient.
It was, for about a year, and then I got the itch for something larger.
I'm still mulling over alternatives.
The 13 GS Convertible is our third Vette. My hobby was and still is GM performance cars. Since the late 60's I have built, driven and sold about 20 cars that were not my DD's. I fit this in with a 22 year career in the U.S. Army and another 20 years in law enforcement after that. There is one car that got away that I kick myself for selling but back then it was just a race car (1970 Nova SS 396, 4 speed, bench seat, factory heater and radio delete, factory 4:10 posi). The one car we have now that will be with us until we are gone is the wife's 69 Camaro SS, 350, 4 speed, 3:36 posi (Presently equipped with a TKO 600 5 speed). I did the frame off in 2000. It is not a trailer queen. We drive it everywhere.
I retired from the Navy in 1992 and immediately took up competitive wing shooting - skeet and sporting clays. I competed nationally and developed a good enough reputation to give lessons and wrote a best-selling how-to book on shooting.
Then I blew out my left shoulder rotator cuff splitting wood and just like that it was all over.
I decided to return to my pre-Navy roots of muscle cars and bought a partly restored '74 vette. It took a year to finish the resto, then I sold it, made a little money off of it and bought my current C6.
Well, I got into Corvettes 50 years ago but I did have an interest as a musician before the cars. This was opening for Chicago in 1999 or so with me on bass.
See below:
I show my 69 Mustang convertible through most of the summer on at least a weekly basis. It's an externally balanced 302 bored .040 over to 308 c.i., KB flat tops, Comp Cams single profile .224 duration / .500 lift, Motorsport full roller rockers, Ford GT40P cast iron heads, Edelbrock Performer intake, Road Demon 625 cfm, custom tri-Y headers, cutouts, turbo muffler dual exhaust with "H" pipe, C4 automatic with a shift kit, 3.55 gears. It looks like your granny's car, so it can come as a surprise to folks on the street or at the drag strip.
