Taking a road trip to the corvette museum on August 1st. Any recommendation for things I should do? Anything else around the area that's worth getting into? Thanks

I am sure you won't forget to check out the Corvette Factory. The NCM website is fairly informative and the visitors bureau has a bunch of places to visit in the area. Frankly, I have never had the time to do much else when I was in town. Most of my visits have been around NCM events (NCM Bash, NCM Anniversary, etc.) that more than consume all my time.
If you are at the Museum you don't want to miss a tour of the plant. Who knows you may be selected to birth a new Corvette.
This is a must IMHO! However you need to time it right. Look on the museum website because the factory tours are only offered a few days a week and only a few times per day. Non offered on the weekends.
be sure to check out the NCM speedway road course. The day I was there the Corvette racing team was testing. It was awesome. I got to see them change two engines and see them on the track running hard!
In Nashville the Grand Ole opry and the Country Music Hall Of Fame. Check out the Bridgestone arena to see whats going on. Nice trip Great food no matter where you go.
Can someone who has been there recently advise if the sinkhole repair work is complete and the museum is back to normal operations? All areas open to the public.

The sinkhole was not repaired in early April, could be complete by now.

It was started on November 10th, and should be close to being finished. We are going there on Friday, the 24th. I'll let you know if it is completed. As far as the tour, they have it Mon-Friday, 3 times a day. I can't remember the exact times, but there is one early morning, one late morning, and one early afternoon. You can make your reservation for one of them, by going to the NCM website.

Sinkhole has been repaired. Be sure to check out the NCM track as well as the gift shop.
