Default Day trip gone wrong

It's a little bit of a long story, but hopefully you will see the humor in the question I asked, the response of the people, and the payback.

We headed out to Herman Missouri a few days ago. Took highway 47 south to highway D west to Herman. There were nice twisties that are fun within the speed limits. Stopped in the historic little river town of Herman, took a walk, shot a few photos. A strange light headedness occurred when I stood up from taking a photo. Hmmm. Better watch that.

Ate lunch in what is claimed to be the oldest continuously operating "saloon" west of the Mississippi. Inexpensive and nice. Great day so far.

Jumped in the Vette with my wife and headed up the road to Washington, Missouri, another river town. Went directly to the river front. That is where things turned south.

Hopped out of the car and headed to the hatch to get out the camera equipment when that strange light headedness hit again. OK, stop. Let this thing pass. Seemed to pass, then ....

Two hours later at the ER I discovered people around me talking about me. My processor was running slow, but I began to realize that I had a problem and was emerging from it. I recalled driving to Washington, but not parking or getting out.

My immediate question was whether or not I had wrecked the car, or did I get it stopped first. One of the EMTs said that, "he keeps asking about his car." There were some snickers. Someone said that I had parked it and was outside the car when I went down. That was good.

Apparently I was fading in and out a bit and was continually worrying about the car. They informed me that the car was fine, my camera was fine, and my wife was also OK. The brain was fully engaged by this time and I put together fairly fast that I may be in trouble.

Not to worry. I'm fine except for a ding in the back of my head and a change in a medication that interacted with another med. However, I'm still explaining that I was "not myself."

They have really nice medical people in Washington. They kept me the night to make sure I was OK before turning me loose. When they decided to keep me, I had only one hope to escape without further injury. I handed the FOB to my wife and asked her if she would drive the Corvette home.

Things are good again except for that big square white bandage on the back of my head.

Inner ear infection or perhaps a disease called (starts with an M like "min airs"). Knocked the h$ll out of me and resulted in a hospital stay.

Really good news is that your wife is alright, your car is fine and you are getting care.

Hit me instantly out walking the dogs. I could not get home. Got a ride in the big white bus. Scary stuff you have no control.

Best of luck.

I have to say I did chuckle...it is always easy to laff at someone else's foibles. Certainly sorry for the bad luck.

Yep. When an unexpected medical event occurs, it is a blessing to have it happen when NOT behind the wheel. Thanks for the well wishes. BP is stable and I'll make sure it is fine for a while (doctor advised) before getting behind the wheel. I'll not knowingly endanger others or myself.

You are in big trouble, asking about the car before asking about the wife, shame on you. She will never let you forget that deal. LOL

Glad to hear you will be ok.
