Default Check engine light

2006 C6 check engine light stays on. Friend ran diagnostics and the computer said the problem was in the vacuum. Replaced old gas cap but the light is still on. Anyone have some ideas before I take the car to the shop.

Reset ecu and drive 50 miles. If it doesn't come on, your good.

If the problem really is the gas cap; When you place the cap on, and the threads are engaged, pull and finish tightening, don't push as you tighten. It can take 50 or more miles, and/or a few ignition cycles before the CEL clears.

My gas cap was loose and after tightening, the light did not go off even after a few start/run cycles. Don't expect it to go off right away unless you reset it.
