Default Soft top question

C3-C5 guy here with a basic question. I'm looking to get a C6 Vert. Looking at 2006 as that fits my price range. Are they all (2006)manual tops or did they come with power tops also. I was mistakenly under the impression all C6's had power top. Every 2006 I have looked at so far is manual top. Thanks.

It was a $1995 option until 2007 and then it was included in a package...as in 3LT, etc.

And, even though you didn't ask, I personally preferred the manual top on my '05 over the power top on my '11. It is not that big of a hassle, altho you do have to get out of the car. Plus, the power top takes up trunk space. Just sayin...

Thank you. Do you think a woman would have any trouble with a manual top in your opinion. My wife would be the primary driver.

Not unless she is very petite. Here is a video...the first minute is all you need.

For the record, I love my power top. Sitting in traffic and hot, just push the button. Want to enjoy some sunshine? Just push the button. However, I am pretty lazy....LOL

Now, some here have reported issues with their power top. But you can always disable the pump and pretty much have a manual top.

Good luck in your search and keep us posted on what you find!

I have a 2008 with the option, it came in the option package, but I would have preferred to have the manual top, can be a lot quicker to put up and down. Should not be hard for you to operate. When you test drive the car try putting the top up and down and you will know for certain.

I have a manual top. 16 seconds from top up to top down. yes ... you do have to get out. but when the hydraulics don't work or leak ... p.i.t.a. plus you get to decide before driving off. remember it's not a C7, you must be stopped to put the top up .... no rolling. if your stopped you might as well get out. IMHO. if your wife is like mine, it's always up when she rides or drives. no wind in her coif at all.

According to the Corvette Black Book, the power convertible top is included in the 3LT optioned car.
1LT or 2LT optioned car have the manual top only.
3LT package includes:
Sport Seats
Side impact air bags
6 Way power seats
Cargo Shade and cargo Net
Power Convertible Top
Heads Up Display
Power Telescopic steering wheel
Auto dimming inside and driver side mirror'
Memory Package
Heated seats
US9 (6 CD changer Radio)
Homelink Garage Opener on Driver Sunvisor

You can probably find a 3LT optioned convertible for the same price as a basic 1LT optioned car

Good Luck

I stand corrected. I saw the power top in the options, (3LT req) and misunderstood it to mean that it was with the 3LT optioned car.
My mistake.
As Ruxvette says, it is included in a 3LT in 2007.

My apologies

Actually...if you pop the ebrake a touch you can raise/lower the roof while moving...at parking lot speeds, normal parking lot speeds lol, this will not damage anything.

My first C6 was an '06 with the manual top. They are very easy to raise, and lower. Your Wifey shouldn't have any problems. My '07 has the power top, and while it is a simple push of the button I would just as soon have the manual. There's no little sensors, or hydraulics to cause a person headaches when they don't work properly.

I have a 2010 3LT GS with a power top and I wish it were a manual top. I have had nothing but problems starting at the first 250 miles. Pumps, bows, adjustment rods, latches, you name it it has broken. Even now that it's long out of warranty Chevy is splitting the bill with me because it's obvious that the top was never right from the start. It has been in the shop one entire month this summer getting the top fixed. This time when it broke it took a chunk of fiberglass out of the tonneau and really ruined my day. That is until once I managed to get the top up and latched manually I discovered that the Air Conditioner didn't work. The compressor was leaking and needed to be replaced (I never used the air until the top didn't work). Anyway, my power top has been a nightmare and has taken the fun out of having a convertible.

If you have a choice get the manual top, much less moving parts to go wrong.

Want to thank everyone for your replies very helpful. I think I will now prefer a manual top. Again this is going to be my wife's primary driver replacing her 04 coupe. She will without a doubt use the top as this is the reason for replacing the 04 to start with. From the replies it appears she will have no issues handling the manual top. Thanks again all very helpful information.
