Discoloration appearing on hood
I have some streaks that are starting to show up on the hood of my 08.. They start out a little dark and then turn white as the picture shows. I thought it might have something to do with the engine heat but they dont line up with anything. Any ideas of what I can use to cover this ugle streaking on my car?? Thanks

Do you use a cover?
It looks to me like a long-term wear issue, but hard to tell from a photo.

I'd be asking some pointed questions to people in your house and find out who used the hood of your car for a work bench or craft table. Looks like something square was put on the hood and whatever was on it or put on it ruined the paint on your hood.

Seems to have the shape of a ratchet. Have you tried buffing it out with some M105 and then M205? You could try some cleaner wax but I doubt that would do it. Go to a paint and body shop and ask them to take a look.

My 08 has the exact same issue, spots and lines all over the hood in a pattern. I think it is where the hood attaches to the hood frame. Whatever glue attaches the hood frame to the hood leaking though the fiberglass into the paint.

To be honest I'd never heard this reported. Strange. Could something caustic have caused this, maybe vandalism?
As another member suggested take it to a good reputable body shop, get an informed opinion of what it is and how to get rid of it.
G/L, it can be made right, let us know what you learn/do.

If the hood is OEM and never been repainted about the only thing it could be is clear coat failure ruling out and physical damage to the clear coat.
Another thought is a chemical reaction with the bonding agent to the top skin. Check for any TSB's on the issue.

These lines and spots are in a pattern. Nothing rubbing on the surface. It is like the paint is delaminating from the fiberglass. I think this is happening where the hood is attached to the hood’s frame. It started about 6 months ago and is slowly getting worse.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Any resolution to this? I have never put anything like a cover on it.
