Default Callaway Supercharger 580 hp Package. Worth it??

So I'm about to close the deal on an 08 C6 with the Callaway supercharger/exhaust package 580hp and 11k miles for 40k. Am I better off buying the Z06? And/or how does the Callaway compare with the other packages? Anything I should worry about with big money repairs down the road?

Any help would be great. I've been on the phone several times with Callaway, but theyre not gonna knock their own set up.

Much appreciated!!

We can't answer this for you without knowing how you plan to use the car. If you're an average Vette owner that just likes to cruise and play on the streets from time to time, then either car will do what you want them to do. Neither of them will be guaranteed to be worry free.

If you like the Callaway stuff, then really _you_ set the value on the car since you're the one in the market for one.

I had an '87 Callaway a few years back ... loved it. Quality work & engineering, and they stand behind their product. I can only imagine they've gotten better over the years. IMO it is well worth the money

Sounds like a good deal to me. The Callaway package is pretty expensive.

If you're about to close it must be pretty nice, it all comes down to what you want the car for and what style you like. 40K can get you a really nice low-mile Z too!

Apparently its an 18k upgrade LOL. The sticker price was 53k. I dont think ill do much to it. I usually do the cheap bolts on (intake exhaust headers). I just sold my 05 base C6 so this will certianly be an ugrade to maybe make a few passes and/**** my neighbors off. I wanted to be in the 30-35k range for a Z06 under 50k miles but jump up to 40k real quick. Heres a few shots

Its a 2LT Z51 so I think its a pretty good deal

This is an excellent point.

A little bit apples to apples, but about 4 months ago I purchased a '12 C6 with a $17k Lingenfelter supercharger package installed on it. Like the car you are looking at, it was very low miles.

I certainly paid more than I would have for a stock '12, but I was going to either put a blower or turbo setup on it anyway, so I actually came out $$ ahead (on the purchase...obviously, when I sell it, I will take the normal depreciation hit).

As Tech said...if you like the Callaway stuff.... I really like the LPE stuff. Excellent workmanship and engineering, and I have experience with it. So for me, it was worth it, and no reason to look back.

The car you're looking at looks really nice. I'd test drive it and see if it is something you will enjoy. If so, no reason not to go for it.

As an aside... I purchased a vehicle a few years ago from the same dealership (Auto Showcase of Carol Stream).

I'm not local to them at all, and I bought the vehicle sight unseen, but they took a lot of additional pictures for me, etc.

They were great to work with. Vehicle was shipped to my door, no issues, no problems.

Of course I am Callaway influenced owner. This is my 3rd, and it is awesome. I had an 09 580sc Cyber Gray vert prior to my current ride. Workmanship is outstanding, durable (their 2010 GS has over 200,000 mile No issues). It is more rare than a ZR1. 40K is inline but negotiate, its 8 yrs old, 36-38k a reasonable offer. Good Luck, that LS motor is bullet proof also.
