Default P0442 code after new cap. Can't clear code either.

Hey guys. I threw a P0442 code and have read through the threads about this so first thing I did was get a new gas cap. Still showing code. I have a DS Trinity and it will not clear the code. I have an appt with dealer as I just bought it and have a 3mo/3000 mi warranty but that's not until Spt when I am in that area.
Any ideas other than the solenoid? I don't smell gas either. Just curious as why the Trinity won't clear the code?
BTW its a 2008 Base LS3 3LT. I've read there are problems but not sure about this.

Update! I disconnected the battery and left cable off for about an hour. Code gone! Several cylce light has not appeared again.
