So today I took my 2013 GS with 1,574 miles on the clock to the emissions station and the car passed which was expected. I drove the car home no problem turned the car off ran in the house for about 20 mins came back out and started the car. Immediately I notice the idle is much stronger than usual. I put the car in gear and roll about 5 feet and the DIC lights up like a Christmas tree. It blinks with two messages "Service Active Handling System" & Service Traction System. I went back in the garage connected the code reader and this is the code I pulled "P0305" Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected. I googled the code and here is what it says:
I checked to make sure all the plugs are tight which they were. I called a local Chevy dealer and got a hold of the service department. I gave the guy the code over the phone and told him it happened right after the emissions test. He told me that their machine somehow changed the cars computer and that I could reset the code via a diagnostic reader or disconnect the negative battery cable and the car would be fine. I tried both the car still idles hard and the engine feels like it's stumbling. I know it's going to have to go to the dealership this week since they are closed now. Has this happened to anyone before and if so what was the fix?
How long did you leave the battery disconnected? A friend had an issue where he got a similar message (not sure if it's the same situation) and he left the battery disconnected for an hour. When he connected it back up, very thing was fine. This was a while back, but to my knowledge, he hasn't had any further issues.

I left the battery disconnected for about 5 minutes maybe I should try leaving it disconnected for a while and reconnect it to see if it corrects it. The guy from the service department told me to give it a min and it would clear the computer. I'll give it another try since I won't be driving it anymore this weekend.
Hope it resets ... they can be temperamental. A few years back, went out on my lunch break to a dead battery. It was over three years old, so I replaced it; car wouldn't start & I got a bunch of error messages. Figured I'd wait until I got off to have it towed to the dealer. When I went out, figured I'd give it one more try....started right up, no problems ever since

I agree my 07 did something similar to this years back and now that I think of it all of it happened right after taking it to the emissions station. I ended up taking that car to the dealer and more than likely the probably pulled the negative cable off for a while.
Just reconnected the battery after almost 3 hours disconnected and the car is still doing the same thing. I'm going to have to take it to the dealership this week to see what happened to it.
So I found out the cause when I got in this afternoon I decided to check under the engine covers and when I pulled off the drivers side cover the #5 plug was just hanging instead of being connected. I inspected the inside of the cable and there was no damage or condensation. I connected it back and started the car and there was no error codes and the strong idle was gone. I don't know what could have made it pop off like that but I'll keep a eye on that one to see if it happens again.
I also checked that all of them were tight and the other 7 were. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. I may replace the oem plugs if the problem comes back. Thank you all for giving me ideas on what to check.
