Just went to a car show and some idiot back his impala into my mirror. He was about to take out the entire rear end of my car before we stopped him. Frigin idiot! Anyway, I don't want to make an insurance claim. It appears to be just his paint on my mirror. What's the best way to remove it?
Yep, try the least abrasive compound available. If that doesn't work, go one step more aggressive. Once you get the paint off, reverse the process all the way to the finest. Then wax or sealer or whatever you normally use on the rest of the car. If nothing does the trick, you'll just have to live with it or get it repainted.
My mirror got hit by a flying piece of wood that had been run over by a truck and gouged the paint. I used compound and it looks a lot better, but I'm just living with it. It's hardly noticeable after being polished.
Thanks everyone for your ideas. I think it should come off with one or multiple of these suggestions. I'm still in shocked at how close this guy was to taking out the whole side of my car. The idiots wife had the audacity to claim I damaged their car as well after he backed into me.
