New "Eagle Eye" tail lights installed!
I got in a package today, and I thought I'd share some photos of my new lights that I got.
First, a few shots of the stock lights (tinted with Rustoleum tail light tint):

And, they were OK, but in order for them to really be blacked out during the day like I wanted, they weren't bright enough when I was on the brakes for my comfort.
So, I decided that the next step would be to upgrade to a set of Anzo "Eagle Eye" tails, with clear lenses and black internals.
I also knew that these lights would be "too bright", so I also ordered a kit of LaminX tint cutouts for the lights.
I've never been able to find good pics of these lights installed/tinted back to back, so I thought I'd provide a resource in the process...
Stock tinted vs new, no tint, with driving lights on (not brakes) [stock lights on outside, new lights on inside]:

Same but with brakes on:

Two new lights, off:

Outside tinted new, inside untinted new, lights off:

same, driving lights on (no brakes):

same, brakes on:

As you can see, the un-tinted lights are so bright that they cause distortion and reflection of the image. These were actually too bright at night for people behind me, so I'm glad I went with the tint.
Here's how they came out:
All new lights tinted, lights off:

same, driving lights:

same, brakes on:

I might put up some more shots tomorrow (might even have a chance to wash the car so it's not dirty...) with the car in various amounts of light.
I'm really happy with the outcome. Thanks for stopping in!

I figured it'd be easier to get the look I was going for that way. Theoretically, it wouldn't matter. However, I wanted a completely black lens with the light off to match the scheme I have on the car, and I didn't want to risk having to tint too dark to meet that goal and have my light output suffer as a consequence. (I think that was a run on sentence..).
That's kind of what happened with the stock ones that I tinted; they looked perfect during the day but just didn't shine through enough for me when I needed them to. Going lighter on the tint would've given me a cherry red, which looks great but doesn't match what I'm doing with the car.
The red ones do look cleaner without tint than the clear lenses for sure. I hear the light output is a little lower than the clear ones though, and I wanted to maximize my brake light intensity because I knew I'd be slapping some tint on there.
Have been tinted since 08 so I am used to it. Never a problem for me but I don't recommend them.
