Default Probably obvious...but

I've noticed if I breathe on the throttle rather than stomp on it the car feels like it pulls a lot harder.

Am I imagining things?

Either that or you have a problem. My wife's Soul acts like that...lack of hp and tq. C6 should not do that.

Are you downshifting?

That does not sound correct.

I can roll on the throttle and move out, but stomping on it causes the rear end to want to step out or come around with the slightest perturbation in the road surface, or a curve.

When I say breathe on I mean a a smooth control stomp, not just a hard floor it....

some people have described that as the torque management limiting the car when you stomp the pedal and notice less pull....idk, sometimes ive noticed that as well.

Yes, I think it could very well be the stock torque management. I've witnessed this myself and my car is 100% stock drivetrain and no tune.

I typically launch at about half throttle, then roll on the rest, rather then just stomp full from a dead stop.

yeah, mine is an A6.

It could just be the drive by wire delay

or

It is either the torque management and/or traction control. If it is from a dead stop.

or

If it is when it is in 6th cruising and then you punch it there is a delay from the downshift. I usually downshift with paddle first then throttle.
