I have the opportunity to go see a 2007 Z06 with 89k miles. Asking price is $32,950. Is this a reasonable asking price?

What do you think?
What are they going for in your area?
Did you do a NADA work up?
Kelly Blue Book work up?
Check with dealers in your area?
How do you feel about buying a car approaching 100,000 miles?
Do you have the extra cash for unexpected repairs on a high mileage car?
Do you have the repair, and maintenance history on this car?
Have you checked CarFax?
What were the results of your homework on this car?

Ya gotta excuse Ham...he's still trying to work out the dosage on the Extra Strength Geritol he sips with his medical marijuana.
You will get answers all over the board but $32-ish is, um, fair...don't you think?
In New Mexico coupes might not bring what verts will and NADA or Kelly Blue Book will, probably, substantiate that. Perhaps you could find one at a dealer in your area?
And then there is the maintenance aspect of buying a car approaching 100,000 miles. You may need extra cash for unexpected repairs on a high mileage car.
I'm sure you have the repair and maintenance history on the car, as in records from the previous owner, GM VIS report, etc.
I'm sure you have checked CarFax to see that history.
So, as Ham righteously said...what were the results of your homework on this car? We sure don't know!

Depending on condition and maintenance I'd say it's fair.

Welcome NM!

This is a condition condition and more condition issue. By those miles, any Vette and especially a Z can have the life taken out of it or it may be good for another 100k miles.

I suggest you get a major PPI at a local pro such as Bruce at Pitre, Jerry at Galles or Scotty's (an indie shop off of Candelaria).

Default Yup I did a little homework

It's a one owner vehicle with accident free CarFax and 27 service records. The CarFax report indicates a fuel tank replacement in 2009 which I thought was odd at only two years old. Everything else on the CarFax is maintenance and routine checks. Cosmetically, the car is in perfect shape with only a minor chip on the windshield.

What kind of repairs should I expect as the car approaches 100K miles?

Keep in mind this would not be my daily driver. I drove my 2005 only 2,500 miles over the last year.

Note: This is also the asking price so there will be some wiggle room on that as well. I'm thinking $29K-$30K range as a final number.

If I were you, I'd check the owner's manual's maintenance schedule, up to the 90k mark, against the maintenance records to make sure everything was done.

Then, I'd take a look at what's needed at 100k.
Then check and see if the Harmonic Balancer is ok, or was it replaced.
What about the condition of the tires and wheels. Big expense potential there.
Were recalls performed? Just check everything with a high mileage car, very carefully.

Nope, I would pass on it. That's just me. Too many potential problems ahead of you.

Get it on a lift, check for thr usual wear items, drive it, if you like it get it. A Z06 for $30k? I can live with the miles, can you?

So I went to the dealer where the Z is at and they said it was out of the lot getting "a slight oil leak" fixed. They are waiting for a part to arrive to fix the problem and it will be a week before the part arrives. This news is concerning to me… especially because I'm on the fence about buying it. I can live with the miles on it if everything is in good operating condition however it feels like they are hiding something from the consumer now. I may pass on this one. The only way I would reconsider at this point would be if they let me take it to my own mechanic, who would be Scotty at Scotty's Corvettes, for a thorough inspection.

Awesome, you got your answer. I would now walk away, for a dealer to fix a slight oil leak it has to be very noticeable, that was the sign you needed. There are plenty more fish out there. Good luck!

Looks like it has some nice aftermarket parts. ....what all has been done? Heads? Interesting. ....

I wouldn't pass because of an oil leak, especially since the pan gasket is a known common issue. If it were me, and I was interested, I would tell them not to fix anything and to let the scottyvette guy look at it. Let the price reflect them not putting any more money in the car to sell if it checks out.

Too much. I just purchased a 2008 Z this weekend for 3.5K with 45k miles on it. Nothing wrong with the car, came with Car Fax report, etc. Thought it was a good deal.

I'll give you $5k for it and you make $1,500 overnight. Deal?

I'd pass (imo), especially since it was out with a oil leak. Keep looking and you'll get the one you're completely happy with.
