Love your garage!

I've never seen garage door rails that are setup like yours. Does it still have an opener on it?

I have 10'6" ceilings in my garage but was trying to figure out how to get a lift installed. The opener would be in the way in my 3rd car stall. That stall is 26' deep, but I wasn't sure if there was enough space to be able lift one car and park another under it and still be able to open the garage door with or without the opener.

I have the doors travel within 6" of my 13' ceiling and utilize Liftmaster 3800 "jack shaft" openers so the ceiling space is totally clear of obstructions. FWIW.

I just purchased these ramps last month from Fred. WELL WORTH THE COST. The "1 ton" steel ramps that come with the BP's are a royal pain AND you really need the longer ramps for clearance (I did).

I have three Eagle lifts (two 8000 lb lifts and one 7000 lb. lift). Love them all. I have two in my garage condo and one at my home garage. Easy to install, never had an issue with any of them. Nice thing about the Eagle lift is they come with drip pans (3), aluminum ramps and casters.

Two 8000 lb lifts in garage condo

One 7000 lb lift in home garage

If you are willing to spend more, and don't want so many posts filling your garage, a single-column lift from American Custom lifts (aclifts.com) is a good alternative to a 4-post. I put two in my 22x22 garage

I did a video testimonial on them, here

I use a Liftmaster 8500 on each door. Very fast and quiet operating and features deadbolt rail locking. 12 foot ceiling. Thanks for the nice comments. Mike

I have the same jack-shaft style openers on my garage doors. As Mike says, they are quiet, they slow at the end of travel and they maximize height by allowing the rails to be close to the ceiling. I wouldn't install anything else now that I know these are available.

I agree. And I think they are pretty much the only choice if you are doing a high-lift door, or one with custom compound track angles like mine. I did have to buy external repeaters to make it compatible with the Car2U transmitter built into the 2012 Corvette and the older HomeLink supported by my 2001 SL500, but I think the remotes built into any other cars 2013 or newer will likely be compatible with the Liftmaster.

i have a new Altas 8000 EXT/L in my driveway that I'll be assembling tomorrow. My dad/brother have Benpak/atlas/danmore lifts (all 4 post).

Had the garage door brackets raised and put in a new liftmaster. should have this running by the end of the day tomorrow. It's 1900lbs.

I had an Eagle four post in NC and I have a Champion here in FL. They are mostly identical and I have had no issues with either. If you have a choice, get one with a 220vac motor. lift time is half!

How have the Bendpaks been? Any issues? I was heading down that road and heard of some install issues with the more recent Bendpak lifts...

(you're in Old Bridge? I'm back up in East Brunswick this weekend.... born and raised here...)

I've had my BendPak HD9 for a year. Purchased new. Had no install issues and has worked fine. I've used it primarily for storage so it's not going up/down every day.

I have a Bendpak HD9 for post. I have not had any issues with it and has come in very handy in so many ways. I stored my snow plow on it I have stored lumber on it and even used it as a work bench. Sometimes I do wish I had a two post when I want to remove the wheels. Great addition to the garage!

I wish I had gone taller with my garage. No lift for me...
The good news is I have 3 acres and my next garage will be built properly

Yes sir. born and raised in Old Bridge here.

The bendpak is a 4 post extra long/extra wide. It's a 9k lb unit, and it's about 4 years old. It's def the most commercial of the three (Altas/Danmore/Benpak). Just more rugged. However it requires an air compressor (or air tank) to release the locking mechanism (the other 2 lifts are deactivated via a manual lever), and it's a 220v (you can order them with 110v). it was also the most expensive by far.

if you've got a wide body c6, better pay pretty close attention to the 'drive through' measurement on any 4 post lift. My grand sport won't fit on the standard Danmore, and will barely make it on the standard Atlas 4 post. I got the ext tall/ext long which gives you an extra 4 inches of width as well.

install was just work. no rocket science. if your pitch is greater than 1/2 over 1', you need to anchor it. We've anchored all the lifts we've stood up.

Is there any particular reason that more people don't go with a type of lift that allows access to remove the wheels as opposed to one that you drive on and then still have to jack up the corner you may want to pull a wheel off of. Can't a newer Vette be lifted safely with one of these types as long as the arms are placed correctly ?? I'm assuming that most mentioned in this thread are as much for 2-car storage as for maintenance ?

I use my 4 posts lift for both storage and working on car. They make sliding jacks where you can lift the wheel off the ramps easily. 4 Post lifts to me are more flexible.
