quick question. dealer sent this charger to me upon car purchase back in March of this year. never noticed the manual describing it as a "battery charger" until i went to the garage and took it from my wall cabinet to check it out to see if it had a quick connect. i explained to the salesperson i wanted the battery protection package that is supposed to come with the car when so equipped. he sends me a charger? is that what comes with the so called "battery protection package?"
I think you wanted this.
BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE
This message displays when the
vehicle has detected that the battery
voltage is dropping beyond a
reasonable point. The battery saver
system starts reducing certain
features of the vehicle that you may
be able to notice. At the point that
features are disabled, this message
is displayed. It means that the
vehicle is trying to save the charge
in the battery. Turn off unnecessary
accessories to allow the battery to
recharge.
I believe that all C6's have this feature, I call it a battery saver; if you leave a light on or keep the car in acc. mode to long.
He gave you a battery protection package with the charger.

Bill, the short answer is yes.
The supplied device you received is actually a CTEK 3300.
It is a tender, not a charger. The instruction labeling is a misnomer.
Google a CTEK 3300 or see it on Amazon, and you'll see what I mean.

I agree with Hameister - The "tender" came with my 2012 GS, and I use it all the time when car parked in my garage. Plugs into lighter socket, which is handy. -
I've used mine all the time after having a dead batt. 3 mos. after purchase---meaning, if I leave the car for a few days, I put it on. The Ctek 3300 from the dealer is slightly different from the retail-sold 3300 unit (which I have) in that it has less buttons, less complication. Mine is probably a different model (this one saying it's a "1051" on the box/manual).
Just read the manual that comes with it, and connect it up through the cig lighter/aux plug in the dash. If you don't have that "connector" it's available for about $10. Some thread the cord thru the bottom of the driver/passenger door---I found mine actually crimped it, and I didn't like that. So, I opened the window an inch and thread the wire thru the opening. Your choice.
I couldn't say??? I guess it's the way they're packaged and sold.
Fact is, I never used one of those things.
When I got my 'vette, everyone advised me to buy a tender.
It was like I hadda have it, or my battery would die a short, and painful death.
I have my car 2 1/2 years now. It often sits for a week to 10 days without use.
Once, because of illness, and vacation, it sat in the garage for 9 weeks without use, and started instantly.
So, needless to say, I never bought one.
the winters here are brutal on batteries when the car sits idle for a long period of time, so we have no choice but to keep the battery hooked up to a tender. us PA. folks don't have the luxury of your weather year round.

yeah, i have the cig. lighter connector. it's the quick connect to the battery terminal i don't have which i like because i keep the quick connect hooked up to the battery year round.

Absolutely understandable!
I lived in upstate New York for 20 years. Typical January was -15* at night, and +10* during the day.
I would have needed a tender there as well I'm sure.
Good luck with it Bill.
sorry i forgot to send the picture of what the dealer sent me.
From the logo in the picture, it appears to be from a C7. That may explain any small differences from the C6 charger/tender. My guess, the dealer grabbed one from a C7 on the lot and sent it to you, and there will be a C7 owner that comes up short.

NICE! Having not used it, I wonder if the dealer near me would take it back and get me the oem tender I'm supposed to have?
For what it's worth, my '13 GS was supposed to have one also, but it wasn't included when I got the car. It wasn't from a Chevrolet dealer, so I ordered one from the internet auction site "because the car is supposed to have it", but I still use my Battery Tender and it works great.
I think it will work fine for you. Both CTEK and Battery Tender make a good product and will provide you years of service.
