A6 Shifter "Cap" Removal?

A6 Shifter "Cap" Removal?
How (if indeed it can be done) do I remove the silver shifter "cap" from the top of my A6 shifter ****? My intent is to possibly replace it with one done in carbon hydro, or better yet use this one and have it treated.

Found the necessary guidelines online and have it out. Quite simple, actually.

It just pops off and snaps back on. Nothing special, pry up one end and off it comes.
If you are referring to the entire **** assembly that's another story. Removal is somewhat complicated in some cases with stubborn *****. YouTube has some good videos on how to do it.

It just pops off and snaps back on. Nothing special, pry up one end and off it comes.
