I have had my car for about 2 months now and it will be getting cold here soon. The car is kept in the garage but it may have to spend some time outside during the winter while I get a few other car projects done...
I have read as much as I can but with all the misleading info I would like to hear from people who have them. One of my main criteria is to have a cover that will offer some protection against something or someone bumping into the car with something while its parked. It has to hold up to a NY winter, its supposed to be bad here again. And some companies say yay to mirror pockets other make the covers with them, are they good or bad.

I can't help you with the newest line of form-fitting (and relatively expensive), stretch car covers but they look very thin to me. Others will chime in and correct me. For me, to keep it in the garage, I got one of those "generic" covers---you know, Small, Medium, Large (and it is the size the Corvette takes). You can usually find them at any auto parts store, and even Costco again. Reason I use them is because they're thick, cover the car, and just about anything that can go bump in the garage won't hurt the car.
This storm cover was perfect until the critters got to it two weeks ago (going to be another cold and snowy one this year). Nice form fitting cover with mirror pockets. The mirror pockets come in handy if your the only one covering the car you can hook one mirror and pull the cover over, also prevents the cover from falling as you are covering the car. I recommend the elastic bottom never had the cover fall off. Soon she goes to a nice warm garage in NC where I have a light cover to put her to sleep for the winter. Just one other note they only last (out door covers) about two years, I was going to buy another next year the critters seal the deal.
Not 100% sure which brand or model this is, but it's supposedly level 5 of 5 protection offered for indoor/outdoor protection. Used mine about 3x over the past 2 years of ownership. Never really used it because it's always garaged and never near anything. I got mine from corvettemods.com. Not sure what the material is on the outside is, but the inside is soft like felt. Somewhere around the $160-300 range, I don't remember what I paid.
