Checked cats for recall
FYI,
I had to prepare my car for the emissions recall. (Converting back to 2.5" setup.)
My original cats were removed with approx. 8K on the clock. (Car has 31K now.)
I just inspected them out of curiosity, a small percentage of each cat is starting to melt. The car was bone stock with stock tune when these cats were removed. My Z06 cats with approx. 30K on them are still in great shape.
Sorry, I could get any pictures good enough to show this. Just wanted to share, since this I was surprised to see this.
Now the amount of blockage was small, so emissions testing would not catch this, but for those with DD mileage it could actually be an issue.
Just saying I would not hesitate to have them replaced, you may be fine, but mine were not normal.
