There are people that picked up their new C7 at the dealer and by the time they got home the tires had already started to crack and split because it was cold when they took delivery.

I have a base suspension Stingray bought in April 2014, I drove it through the winter of 2014/2015 with NO signs of cracking. Also, my garage is NOT heated. Obviously, here in Charlotte, we don't get sub-zero temps in winter, but we get our share of night times in the 20's.

When the C7 was first coming out, some of the articles talked about the Super Sport runflats that come on both the base Stingray and the Z51 version. They have the same name but are very different tires (in addition to being different sizes), especially regarding the tread compound. Like Jimmy, I have not been able to find any low temperature problems with the base size Super Sport runflats, and recently had them installed on our C6 which we sometimes drive in temps down below zero. Like any summer tire in cold weather, traction sucks but I don't expect them to be damaged just like our PS2 runflats were not damaged by the low temps.

We drive our Corvette(s) a lot; daily driver, long distance road tripper, autocrosser, drag racer, and HPDE track use. About 200k miles since 2001.

We wore out one set of Goodyear runflats on our C5, then three sets of Goodyear Supercar runflats on our C6's. We also had a set of Goodyear A/S runflats (no longer available) for our C6.

We have also worn out 2 sets of Goodrich KD runflats on the C5, two sets of Michelin PS2 runflats on the C6, and have a set of Michelin A/S runflats for the C6 and Michelin Super Sport runflats recently installed on that car. So we have a lot of experience with both Goodyear and Michelin tires on our Corvettes.

I find the Michelins to be better tires- smoother and quieter, more predictable, and longer lasting. But to say the Goodyears are junk, I disagree. We only replaced ours when they were worn out, not because we hated them. If anyone here is willing to supply me with free new production Goodyear Supercar tires every couple of years, I'll be happy to run them for as long as we own the car.
