Seven months ago I was at a Chevy dealer for my 2007 Corvette service, I asked if they checked my wheel alignment they told me that Corvette does not need wheel alignment. Couldn't remember the terms they used why. Yesterday, I went to a local Tuffy for brake works and they said they also did wheel alignment and charged me $89.99 for the job. My question is, who was right...the Chevy dealer or the local Tuffy? I am not mechanically inclined thus the simple question. Thanks.
If a chevy dealer told me that corvettes did not need wheel alignments, I would report them to GM corporate, recommending for them to not even have a repair portion of their business for corvettes.
I can't imagine a dealer saying "corvette does not need alignment". Are you sure that they didn't say YOUR Corvette didn't need alignment? That being said, I have an 03 Avalanche that has never been aligned because it tracks straight and the tires wear perfectly. Same goes for my 11 CTS. My 07 had the alignment checked after the oil pan gasket was done three years ago but it was fine.

Not only that, the reason I went to the dealer for service was that my car wouldn't start after coming home from a long vacation. The battery died, my neighbor jumped it for me then I called the Chevy dealer and made an appointment. Dropped the car told them to check everything including battery and why it wouldn't start. When I picked up the car they told me everything in my car is in very good shape and does not need any works. It only had 25,000 + miles. That's when I asked if they checked the wheel alignment. When I got home parked it in the garage, next day I wanted to drive it won't start again. Called the dealer, brought the car back and the same guy said I need new battery. I said to him, that was the reason why I was here yesterday and you said I didn't need a battery and everything was in good shape. Seven months past and my car needs new brakes, harmonic balancer was replaced by Tuffy to the tune of $2600. Why didn't the Chevy dealer see all these last time I was there? I felt before I could trust them more than anybody else now I'm not sure. Should I report them to GM? I'm a female btw and doesn't know a whole lot about cars and I'm so glad I found this forum.

That's what the service guy said that Corvette does not need alignment because it has a special wheel.

You also need to find a local guy friend knowledgeable in vettes, because its sad, but women get ripped off all the time for service.
My girlfriend is very understanding, because I help women all the time, I take a personal interest in busting guys chops that try to take advantage of women this way.

Thanks guys, for all the feedbacks. Hopefully, it's a smooth ride from here on.

Stay far away from that dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! Or that service manager, one or the other
So how about the alignment, feel any better, go straighter ??? The obligatory question, did they use PFADT specs
NSF
I would make the manager of the dealership and GM aware of the 'service' you received and what you were told about the alignment. Then I'd find another dealership to deal with.
Not only do they need alignment, all four wheels have alignment adjustments. Used to be you got a "front end alignment", but no more. Having it correct is very important for tire life and car handling.
Let's hope the dealer's rep who told you that just meant something else.
It's true. They use a special wheel that is manufactured using unobtanium and it self aligns with the chassis whenever the car is parked. The wheels are built using a top secret patented process that is overseen by elves.
yes they need alignment. before i bought my 05 from the dealer on the test drive i noticed the steering wheel was tilted slightly to the right.
they aligned it and the steering wheel was spot on. kinda makes we wonder how it got that way in the first place..... they didn't charge me but i noticed regular alignments were 89.99 but they charged 129.99 for vettes. iv'e come to realize that if it's anything for a vette the mark up is 25 to 30% more.................
