Default Driver side lock

My C6 lock works intermittently when I open the door with either the inside or outside button. Passenger side OK and latch is OK. I open the latch and pull on the release to get it open. Works less than doesn't. The window does the partial roll down when I use the outside switch. I have the service manual but it is a bear to find anything.

Any help would be appreciated before I go to the dealer.

P.S. It started after I replaced the stock radio, but now wiring changes anywhere near the lock.

I have a 2010 GS, and had the same symptoms just before the driver side lock completely failed to open. Picked up a new one at the dealer, followed a good DIY on the forum, and I was back in business.

Sounds like your latch is on its way out.

There is a little motor (I tried to source a direct replacement, but no luck.) inside that drives a plastic lead screw.

The motor loses torque and is unable to unlatch the door. Usually the door will open a little, this is the first of two latch points. It just doesn't have enough (Once the brushes wear out.) to do the second latch point.

People on here have found them cheaper than what I paid. Dealer wanted $260 I believe, and sold it to me much cheaper without me even asking.

So, you could shop a little to save a few bucks.

Not hard to replace.

Here is some more clarification and UPDATE:

The radio installed was from a 2008 corvette with the aux plug. It worked for about 10 minutes and them reverted to "LOCKED." Now the passenger side door will not open electrcally, I can't start the car because it says FOB not detected, with TWO fobs in the car and won't come our of PARK. Also a security light is ON...Got to be some sort of anti theft routine...

I gave up and sent it to the dealer. Turns out some pins that went to a "box" came loose and created a bunch of computer problems. Guess I have to be MORE careful when I pull off the center console. But the good news (sort of) was that they detected that my rear bearings were going bad and replaced them under warranty...
