Hi all, I have searched this topic and was unable to find anything current. So I'm looking for the most up to date thinking on how to eliminate the drivers window squeeking / creeking noise on a convertible when the top is up.
In my case, like some others if I lower the window slightly the noise seems to ALMOST go away.
I have tried to lube the weather stripping with no luck. I used silicone (sp?) as recommended on this site.
I think the problem lies in the fact that when the window is fully closed the top edge of it seems to touch metal screws that are inside the groove that the window fits in to. Comments?
So does that suggest my window might be slightly loose and rubs against the screws causing the squeak?
As a test try putting some electrical tape on the window edge to see if it eliminates the screw to window contact. I have not looked at mine yet but has the hardware backed out or need tightened?
