Default Fuel Leak Update

For those who have followed my fuel leak woes, here is the latest.

As you know, I opted to take my 08 to the Chevrolet dealer, where I bought it used 7 months ago, to have the fuel leak repaired. The research I did on this forum suggested that the leak was from the driver's side fuel pump. After the dealer pulled the gas tank from the car, they informed me by phone that indeed the fuel pump was leaking. However, they also told me that the gas tank and the filler neck were also cracked and leaking. I went ahead and gave them permission to do what was necessary to repair the leak.
Today I picked up the car, and was able to see, for the first time, the parts that were replaced. I took a few photos. I know what my impressions are, and I ask for yours.

The mechanic showed me stains on the tank and said that it was leaking

The fuel pump obviously was a problem

These parts were also replaced

I don't know what you guys think, but I fail to see a problem with the gas tank. It has stains on it but then it should if the pump was leaking. The list price for just the tank was $995. A lot of money for a piece of plastic

The tank looks like just some dried gas overflow from a fill up. If there was a crack it would have been dripping on your driveway. Hmmm....

The service department of any dealership is where the money is made. They're notorious for 'upselling' during any work order.

I would think if they put a pressure test on the tank it would show if it was leaking. A little late now. If you made them pressurize the tank while you watched, would they refund the cost of the tank? I doubt it! They basically replaced everything.

I agree. Seems like a classic example of throwing parts at it to make sure it is fixed.
Did you get the replaced parts? If it was not warranty the parts are yours. If you have the parts I would do some testing on my own and then have a conversation with the service manager...and then run it up the flag pole if necessary.

So I have a 2008 corvette and it seems to be leaking from the neck of the tank as well I checked the fuel pump and it's fine, so did the dealership fix the neck or replaced the whole tank because it looks like it has a rubber seal and the neck screws in the tank 🤔

The fuel pump & the associated hoses are a known leak problem, but it is unusual for the actual tank to leak
